Our organization is looking to bring on an Accounting Lead – Record to Report (R2R) to strengthen our finance function. Stepping into this role means taking ownership of accounting integrity, control processes, and operational delivery across a diverse portfolio of entities or a critical accounting workstream. You'll be counted on to steer resolution of nuanced accounting challenges, coordinate cross-functional responses to elevated-risk situations, serve as the team's representative in audit and executive-level conversations, and guarantee that close cycles, controls, and team outputs consistently satisfy company standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee execution of the monthly close calendar across assigned entities or process domains, making certain every critical closing activity is complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule
- Examine and approve journal postings, accrual entries, account reconciliations, variance narratives, and other close-related outputs prepared by staff accountants, in keeping with segregation-of-duties guidelines
- Review complex accrual situations, prepayment items, non-standard transactions, and manual journal entries, testing assumptions to confirm the accounting approach applied is sound
- Serve as the designated escalation contact for problems concerning posting errors, close-cycle obstacles, interface breakdowns, missing documentation, and judgment-based accounting determinations within your scope
- Guarantee continuous alignment with internal control requirements, SOX-related standards, and documented close methodologies
- Direct reconciliation activities between source systems and SAP, ensuring material discrepancies are properly researched and resolved
- Engage with local controllers, in-market accounting teams, accounts payable, treasury, tax, and other relevant partners on close topics, accounting inquiries, and process modifications
- Act as the accounting function's point of contact throughout internal and external audit engagements, ensuring consistency in responses and readiness of supporting documentation
- Support the development of less experienced accountants by reviewing their work product and strengthening their technical proficiency and close-cycle rigor
- Lead efforts to enhance processes, promote standardized practices, and assess new tools, reports, and workflow solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor's and Master's degree in Accounting, along with Colombian Public Accountant credentials
- At least five years of relevant finance experience spanning General Ledger, record-to-report, financial reporting, and audit work, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory or team leadership role
- Demonstrated experience within Corporate Finance or a related support capacity, combined with strong knowledge of finance operations, general business functions, and operational realities
- Notable problem-solving skills, covering the ability to detect issues, determine their priority, articulate them clearly, and design and implement corrective actions
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS guidelines, with proven ability to apply these standards to complex or non-standard situations
- Proven history of managing process oversight, driving improvement initiatives, and optimizing workflows
- Effective communication skills combined with English proficiency at B2 level or above, supporting accurate understanding of business requirements and their translation into agentic architecture designs
