Job Summary The Sales Associate, LATAM will be responsible for developing and growing Okeanos’ business in the Andean Region, primarily Colombia and Ecuador, with a strong focus on new business development, customer development, and market expansion.
The role will be responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities, developing customers from scratch, building and managing a strong sales pipeline, and taking opportunities from prospecting through trials, approvals, negotiation, and closing.
The position will also manage existing customer and distributor relationships, ensuring proper commercial follow-up and working closely with Technical, Operations, Product, and Marketing teams to successfully develop and convert business opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for Colombia and Ecuador, aligned with Okeanos’ LATAM objectives.
- Identify and develop new customers and business opportunities within the plastics industry and related sectors.
- Generate new leads and build a strong and sustainable sales pipeline.
- Develop customers from scratch and establish long-term commercial relationships.
- Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and opportunity qualification through negotiation and closing.
- Lead the commercial follow-up of projects, including trials, product evaluations, approvals, quotations, and commercialization.
- Identify new applications and business opportunities for Okeanos’ products and compounds.
- Manage and develop existing customer accounts and distributor relationships.
- Develop customer and territory plans to achieve sales and volume targets.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the CRM, including opportunities, activities, pipeline, forecast, and next steps.
- Work closely with Technical, Operations, Product, and Marketing teams to ensure the successful development and execution of projects.
- Monitor market trends, competitors, and customer needs to identify new growth opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain accurate sales forecasts for the assigned region.
- Travel within Colombia and Ecuador as required to develop customers and support business opportunities.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of proven commercial experience in the plastics, resins, compounds, masterbatch, packaging, or related industries.
- Proven experience in new business development and customer acquisition.
- Experience managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
- Experience managing and developing commercial projects, including trials, product evaluations, approvals, and commercialization.
- Strong understanding of the plastics industry and its value chain.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new opportunities and build a strong sales pipeline.
- Hunter mindset, proactive, autonomous, and results-oriented.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (preferred).
- Project management skills.
- Advanced English proficiency; Portuguese is a strong plus.
- Account management and relationship building.
- Organizational and planning skills.
- Customer service orientation and empathy.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Passion for Okeanos’ mission to reduce integral plastic pollution.
