Position Summary
The Logistics Specialist – Domestic is responsible for managing assigned shipments from the time the load is entered into the system through final delivery to the customer.
This customer-facing role coordinates end-to-end domestic transportation, including plant and freezer pickups, warehouse transfers, delivery appointments, and final delivery. The position maintains accurate shipment information, manages each load within the approved logistics budget, and provides proactive communication to customers, traders, suppliers, carriers, warehouses, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned domestic shipments from order entry through final delivery.
- Serve as the primary logistics contact for assigned customers and traders.
- Coordinate product availability, pickup dates,
shipping requirements, and delivery expectations with suppliers, freezers, and warehouses.
- Select and secure qualified carriers based on service requirements, delivery schedules, and approved budgets.
- Schedule plant and freezer pickups, warehouse transfers, delivery appointments, and other transportation activities.
- Provide carriers, freezers, and warehouses with complete and accurate pickup and delivery instructions.
- Track shipments from pickup through delivery and proactively address delays, missed appointments, equipment issues, temperature concerns, or other service exceptions.
- Provide timely updates to customers and traders regarding shipment status, estimated delivery times, delays, and additional costs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and professionally manage delivery concerns, rejections, claims, or service issues.
