About Us
At Acquisition Lab, we partner with entrepreneurs who acquire and operate profitable small businesses across the United States. These are not early-stage startups — they are established, cash-flowing companies generating $1–2M in EBITDA, backed by institutional financing. Our role is to bring clarity, structure, and financial excellence to these businesses. Our Colombia-based team is at the core of that mission, acting as the financial backbone behind each operator.
The Role
This is not a traditional bookkeeping or data-entry role. As a Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of the accounting function for a portfolio of U.S. companies and serve as the first level of financial review before the Controller. You'll be expected not only to record transactions and complete reconciliations, but also to understand the business behind the numbers, identify when something does not make sense, investigate discrepancies, analyze financial results, and proactively bring issues and insights to the Controller.
We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with analytical thinking, professional judgment, curiosity, and ownership.
What You'll Own
- Own the full general ledger and month-end close process; prepare P&L;, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements; ensure U.S. GAAP compliance
- Perform month-over-month and other variance analysis across P&L; and Balance Sheet accounts, investigating unusual movements rather than simply reporting them
- Bank/credit card reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, payroll entries, intercompany transactions, goodwill amortization,
FX adjustments, and account clean-ups
- Revenue recognition and deferred revenue tracking; cost allocation and margin visibility
- AP and vendor management: record and review vendor bills, support weekly payment schedules, process payments via Ramp
- Balance Sheet integrity: fixed asset/depreciation schedules (including ROU assets), debt schedules, intercompany reconciliations
- Support the Controller in consolidation of financial statements across multiple entities
- Work directly with U.S. business owners, operators, and the Controller; identify process improvements
Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting experience; 3+ years working with U.S. companies
- Strong hands-on knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Demonstrated experience owning month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Experience performing financial statement and variance analysis
- QuickBooks Online proficiency — required
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets
- English B2+
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously
Nice to Have
- Experience with Ramp, Gusto, Double, or similar platforms
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and financial statement consolidation
- Experience supporting AP and vendor management
- Experience with multi-currency environments
What You Get
- 100% remote
- 10 PTO days
- 7 U.S. holidays + 3 local holidays
- Compensation in USD
- Exposure to multiple U.S. businesses and industries
- Direct interaction with Controllers and business operators
- Hands-on exposure to multi-entity reporting and consolidations
