POSITION OVERVIEW
RIVA is seeking a seasoned Senior Director of Finance and Accounting to lead our corporate financial strategy, planning, and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in government contracting finance, strong leadership capabilities, and experience overseeing all accounting and finance functions including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, financial systems, and strategic financial management. This senior leadership role will serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Financial Officer and executive management, driving finance transformation initiatives and supporting strategic growth, including M&A; activity.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Leadership: Direct and manage all aspects of financial planning, reporting, analysis, and accounting operations. Provide strategic insights to executive leadership for informed decision-making.
- Accounting Oversight: Oversee general accounting, revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and internal controls. Ensure accuracy and compliance with government contracting standards (FAR, CAS, DCAA).
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting processes and periodic forecasting,
working collaboratively with business units to ensure accuracy and alignment with company objectives.
- Cash Management: Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management to support liquidity, financial covenant reporting, and organizational health.
- Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with federal government contracting requirements and regulations. Lead interactions with external auditors and regulatory agencies, managing audit responses and ensuring successful outcomes.
- Finance Transformation and Systems: Lead the structural and process improvements within financial systems, including Deltek Costpoint and related payroll, expense, and business intelligence platforms, to modernize financial operations and improve reporting efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate financial and accounting processes, implementing improvements for efficiency, accuracy, and enhanced internal controls.
- Team Leadership: Mentor, manage, and develop finance and accounting staff to build a high-performing team aligned with company culture and strategic objectives.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Deliver insightful, actionable, financial reports and analyses to stakeholders, facilitating transparency and proactive management of company financial health.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Controller, Director, or above) within the Government Contracting industry.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint in GovCon environments.
- In-depth knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA audits, and general government contracting regulations.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities, with proven experience managing and developing high-performance teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading ERP or financial systems implementations, migrations, or transformation initiatives in a GovCon environment.
- Experience supporting M&A; due diligence, financial integration, or other corporate transaction activity.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated ability in managing complex projects and implementing financial systems and process improvements.
- Advanced degree and/or CPA preferred
The salary or salary range for this role reflects an estimated range informed by multiple compensation factors. Final offers may vary based on considerations such as relevant experience, education and training, critical skillsets, and overall business needs.
Pay range
$180,000—$210,000 USD
