Job Title - Storage Operations Support (L1)

Role Overview

Frontline monitoring and routine operations support for DS8000 storage, SAN fabrics, and replication environments, working under L2/L3 guidance.

Responsibilities

- Monitor DS8000, SAN switches, and replication dashboards (including IBM Storage Insights) for alerts/events
- Log, triage, and route incidents per ITIL process; raise tickets to L2/L3 for unresolved issues
- Perform routine health checks on Metro Mirror/General Mirror replication status
- Execute basic, documented tasks: cable checks, port status verification, log collection
- Support daily backup/replication status reporting
- Update runbooks and shift handover logs




- Assist in evidence gathering during audits (screenshots, reports, logs)
- Participate in 24x7 shift rotation (first responder)

Required Skills

- Basic understanding of SAN, storage, and replication concepts
- Familiarity with monitoring tools/dashboards
- ITIL Foundation knowledge (incident logging/ticketing tools like ServiceNow/Remedy)
- Basic Linux/Windows/iSeries command-line navigation
- Good documentation and communication skills

Preferred

- ITIL Foundation certification
- Exposure to IBM Storage Insights or similar monitoring tools
