HR Specialist Sr

Key Responsibilities

Own the HR and payroll function end-to-end for our non-driver workforce. This is a hands-on generalist role one person handling onboarding, payroll, benefits, and employee issues, with additional personnel projects as they come up. Payroll runs through a PEO, so the work is administration and accuracy rather than tax filing.

Payroll

- Process bi-weekly payroll through the PEO portal
- Submit new hires, terminations, rate changes, and status changes
- Track hours, PTO, and time-off balances; resolve discrepancies before cutoff
- Serve as the point of contact with the PEO on payroll questions

Onboarding & Offboarding

- Run the full new-hire process: offer letters, I-9 and W-4, background checks, PEO enrollment, first-day setup
- Maintain personnel files and ensure documentation is complete and current
- Handle offboarding: final pay, equipment return, exit documentation

Health & Company Benefits

- Administer enrollments, changes, and open enrollment
- Answer employee questions on coverage, eligibility, and claims
- Reconcile benefit elections against payroll deductions

Employee Relations





- First point of contact for employee questions, complaints, and disputes
- Document and escalate issues appropriately; support managers on performance and disciplinary matters
- Maintain confidentiality on all personnel matters

Special Projects

- Recruiting: job postings, screening, interview coordination, offer process
- Policy and handbook development, HR process documentation
- Other personnel projects as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications::
- 3+ years in HR, payroll, or a combined generalist role supporting US-based employees
- Fully bilingual professional written and spoken English and Spanish
- Working knowledge of US employment practices: FLSA, I-9, PTO, terminations, benefits enrollment
- Experience with a PEO or US payroll platform (TriNet, Insperity, ADP, Paychex, or similar)
- Reliable availability during full US Eastern business hours
- Strong attention to detail payroll errors have direct financial consequences
- Discretion with confidential information

Preferred

- Experience supporting a warehouse or transportation/logistics workforce
- Recruiting experience
- Familiarity with HRIS reporting

Success in the First 90 Days

- Payroll runs clean and on time with no manual corrections
- Onboarding is documented and repeatable
- Benefits questions are resolved without escalation
- Personnel files are current and audit-ready
