At FOLKS, we are building a talent pool to identify professionals who may be considered for future Animator opportunities. We do not currently have any open positions for this role; this posting is intended to help us anticipate potential hiring needs that may arise in the future. The Animator will be responsible for creating high-quality animation that brings characters, creatures, objects, and vehicles to life, while following the project narrative, established artistic direction, and technical constraints of the production pipeline.

Responsibilities

- Create photorealistic and expressive animation for characters, creatures, objects, and vehicles, aligned with the project’s narrative,



visual, and technical requirements.
- Work with animation and production tools such as Maya, Houdini, ShotGrid, and other software required by the production pipeline.
- Collaborate with creative and technical teams to ensure animation meets the project’s artistic, technical, and continuity standards.
- Implement feedback from supervisors, leads, and production teams accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in dailies, reviews, and production meetings, presenting work in progress and adjusting priorities based on project needs.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in animation for VFX, film, television, advertising, or other high-end productions.
- Strong knowledge of Maya and familiarity with Linux environments.
- Experience with, or knowledge of, ShotGrid and production workflows.
- Ability to communicate creative and technical ideas clearly and collaboratively.
- Experience in bipedal, quadrupedal, facial, body mechanics, lip sync, motion capture, or performance-capture animation is an asset.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments, meet deadlines, and estimate delivery timelines accurately.
- Strong technical skills, the ability to learn new tools quickly,



and a motivation to stay current with industry trends and technologies.
- An open mindset and willingness to grow, learn new methods, and share knowledge with the team.
- Ability to work independently and solve technical challenges autonomously.
- Comfortable receiving direction, collaborating with others, and working effectively under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and an open-minded approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, dynamic, fast-paced team.

Preferred Skills Maya, Houdini, ShotGrid, MEL, and Python.
