The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job purpose
To provide professional services to support the management and implementation of technical cooperation actions in strengthening initiatives related to HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and viral hepatitis, including those aimed at expanding access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV self‑testing, in accordance with PAHO and WHO technical guidelines. Additionally, to support, facilitate, and coordinate the implementation of an operational research protocol for the diagnosis of tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, and cryptococosis in people with advanced HIV disease in Colombia.
Responsibilities
- Support the management of the study by ensuring compliance with administrative and ethical requirements, obtaining regulatory approvals, providing guidance to research centers, and assisting Principal Investigators and the steering committee.
- Monitor and track study progress,
ensuring correct implementation of the protocol and patient care pathways.
- Provide logistical support for supplies and sample transportation.
- Assist in participant recruitment and follow‑up, verifying adherence to established care pathways and addressing challenges.
- Provide technical cooperation in HIV, supporting combined prevention strategies, PrEP, and HIV self‑testing, and strengthening national guidelines and protocols.
Education
Professional degree in health sciences (medicine, nursing, microbiology) or related fields, with postgraduate training in epidemiology, public health, or project management.
Work experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in coordinating operational research protocols, preferably in studies related to infectious diseases or HIV. Knowledge of local and international clinical research regulations, data management platforms (e.g., REDCap), and sample collection techniques. Experience
