Job Summary

Join a global leader in financial services and play a critical role in shaping the compliance landscape in Colombia. As the Deputy Compliance Officer, you will work closely with the Compliance Officer to develop, implement, and administer a robust Compliance Management Program. Your focus will be on the detection and prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing, consumer fraud, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulatory standards.

This role requires strong technical judgment, high level of autonomy and independent decision-making. If you are detail-oriented, proactive, and have a strong grasp of compliance regulations, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our operations in Colombia.

Key Responsibilities

- Support Regulatory Compliance: Assist the Compliance Officer in developing and maintaining all aspects of the company's Compliance Management Program, focusing on anti-money laundering (AML), anti-terrorist financing (ATF), fraud prevention and consumer protection regulations that govern Ria as a Specialized Electronic Deposit and Payment Entity (SEDPE).
- FIU Team Leadership: Coordinate the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) team to ensure effective execution of compliance-related tasks. Provide support to the Compliance Officer in enhancing the business case based on the team’s capacity.
- Policies and Procedures: Review, update, and maintain compliance and fraud prevention policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with local regulatory requirements and Ria’s international standards.
- Compliance Monitoring: Perform transaction monitoring for the identification and escalation of suspicious activity through internal reporting processes, including the submission of Suspicious Activity Reports to authorities.




- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with senior management in overseeing the company’s compliance initiatives, ensuring alignment with global standards and local regulations.
- Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the key point of contact with local regulators, including the Central Bank, Financial Superintendency and Financial Intelligence Units, to fulfill the company's regulatory obligations and maintain strong relationships. Respond the law enforcement requests.
- Risk Assessment &
- Mitigation: Assist in designing and implementing a comprehensive Compliance Risk Assessment Program to identify and mitigate risks across regulatory frameworks, product offerings, operational geographies, and delivery channels.
- Due Diligence &
- KYC Oversight: Perform due diligence for existing correspondents, manage KYC processes, and ensure timely updates.
- Training &
- Awareness: Lead compliance training programs for Ria Colombia employees, ensuring adherence to integral standards on money laundering and financial terrorism prevention. Train the Compliance team on emerging risk trends and regulatory requirements.
- Agent Oversight: Monitor agent activity to ensure all transactions comply with internal AML/ATF policies, performing transaction monitoring and reporting to maintain regulatory compliance as well as agent oversight diligence to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Data Analysis &
- Reporting: Conduct in-depth transaction analysis using data analytics tools to detect suspicious activity. Report key indicators to the Compliance Officer using Power BI dashboards and other advanced reporting tools.
- Compliance Regulatory Reports: Assist with the preparation and submission of AML reports.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partner with various departments to meet all reportorial and regulatory requirements, ensuring seamless communication and compliance across the business.
- Assist with the development and execution of compliance projects and the implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Other activities necessary for the position designated by the Compliance Officer.

Qualifications





- Professional Background: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related fields.
- At least 10 years of experience in Compliance, risk management, fraud prevention or Internal Audit roles.
- At least 6 years of experience managing AML/LAFT risks, financial analysis, and database management in a financial institution.
- Desirable that he / she have been appointed before by the Financial Superintendency of Colombia as Compliance Officer.
- Risk management background.
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Technical Expertise

- Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency with pivot tables, dashboards, data analytics, and multiple formulas.
- MS Office Skills: Experience with Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and OneDrive.
- Knowledge of R, SQL, SPSS, and Python for data analysis and management.
- Database Management: Extensive experience in working with and managing databases.
- Compliance Expertise: Strong understanding of relevant compliance regulations, particularly AML and ATF, with experience in transaction monitoring and AML risk detection.
- Data Analysis Proficiency: Expertise in data analysis, data mining, and statistical analysis to detect suspicious activity, with fluency in using tools like Power BI for reporting.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) with excellent communication skills.

Education &

- Certifications

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 150 hours of proven AML/LAFT risk management training through specialized courses, seminars, and certifications.

Experience

- At least 10 years of experience in Compliance, risk management, fraud prevention or Internal Audit roles.
- At least 6 years of experience managing AML/LAFT risks, financial analysis, and database management in a financial institution.
- Desirable that he / she have been appointed before by the Financial Superintendency of Colombia as Compliance Officer.
