Platform Engineer (Database SME)

Job Summary

We're looking for a Platform Engineer and database expert (SQL Server) to design and maintain our platform infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. You'll take full ownership of our SQL Server ecosystem (architecture, migrations, performance) and collaborate with platform teams to automate deployments via CI/CD.

What You'll Do

- Design, maintain, and lead upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery for all SQL Server environments.
- Maintain high platform availability and performance; automate deployments using CI/CD and Backstage.
- Optimize queries and indexes; provide technical support to development teams for performance bottlenecks.
- Develop automation scripts (T-SQL, PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
- Manage change management processes, access controls (RBAC), and security standards.




- Contribute to architectural decisions and maintain technical documentation.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.

What You'll Bring

- 3+ years of experience in platform engineering, database administration, or DBRE.
- Deep knowledge of SQL Server: high availability (AlwaysOn/AGs), performance tuning, and disaster recovery.
- Cloud experience (AWS preferred).
- Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell, Node.js, Go, PHP, or Perl.
- Networking concepts (VPCs, DNS, load balancing) and CI/CD tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish (required).

Nice to Have: Microsoft Certification in SQL Server.
