Job purpose: This consultancy aims to strengthen urban resilience and improve living conditions for vulnerable populations in Latin America and the Caribbean. The role will provide technical assistance in urban planning and disaster risk management, focusing on data generation and use for risk assessment. Key contributions include developing hazard, exposure, and risk maps, conducting risk analyses, and supporting the implementation of a digital platform to inform public policies and integrated urban solutions. The position also involves strengthening governance, institutional capacities, and promoting knowledge exchange on best practices in disaster risk reduction and urban resilience.
Responsibilities:
Support national and local institutions in collecting, systematizing, and validating data on geological and hydrometeorological hazards, exposure, and vulnerability. Develop hazard, exposure, and risk maps at the city scale using recognized methodologies and updated data. Conduct detailed risk analyses to identify and prioritize critical areas. Contribute to the design, implementation, and ownership of a digital risk visualization platform. Facilitate technical workshops for knowledge transfer and the use of risk analysis tools. Propose and validate contextualized urban solutions for risk reduction in coordination with stakeholders. Support the design of regulatory, legal, and financial instruments for risk reduction actions. Assist in the design and execution of pilot projects and monitor local strategies from a risk management perspective. Design and implement capacity-building activities in risk manag
