About the job

At Dapper we are building the data infrastructure of public and institutional affairs for emerging markets. Everything regulations related: bills, government actors, decrees, consultations, committee minutes, real-time plenary session transcripts, votes. Turning that raw material into something a public affairs team or a government can act on takes someone who can do three things at once: understand problems deeply, build products fast, and think about future research.

This is a role for someone who doesn´t want to choose between research and building, and got tired of being told those are different jobs.

What you'll do:

- Turn domain knowledge into a product. How a bill moves through congress in Colombia is not how it moves in Mexico or Chile. You'll formalize that: ontologies, taxonomies, scoring models, agents, so it becomes something the platform knows.
- Build directly with clients. Public affairs, legal, and government relations teams will bring you problems that don't have a feature yet. You'll prototype the answer in days, put it in front of them,



and find out fast whether it holds. You’ll be working with the biggest companies in LATAM.
- Publish. Part of this job is making Dapper the reference on LATAM regulatory data: analyses, notes, papers. Research here is both a product input and a credibility signal, and you'll own that output.

What we're looking for:

- A PhD in a quantitative or social science field: mathematics, physics, economics, political science, computer science, statistics, applied math. The work is genuinely research, and we need someone who has already proven they can define a hard question and answer it without supervision.
- 1-2 years of experience after the PhD in the industry, government or any role outside of academia. Enough to have made the transition from "just research” to "building product".
- A genuine power user of AI tools. You use Claude, Cursor, or similar every day, not to autocomplete, but to compress the distance between an idea and a working artifact. You can build agents, not just prompt them. This isn't optional; it's how the role is designed.
- Real fluency in at least one language or framework, Python preferred. You don't need to be a systems engineer. You do need to be able to build the thing yourself instead of specifying it for someone else.
- Exceptional written and spoken communication in Spanish and English. You'll write for a client one morning and for an engineer that afternoon, and both have to land.
- Bonus: familiarity with LATAM regulatory or legislative processes, exposure to public affairs or government relations work, comfort in front of clients.
