We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and seasoned technical accounting professional to join us in our quest to develop the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics. The SEC Reporting &

- Technical Accounting Consultant will serve as a foundational leader within the finance organization, managing day-to-day SEC compliance, driving technical accounting research, and ensuring financial stewardship to support our growth as a public-ready organization. This role offers an incredible opportunity to shape our reporting infrastructure and internal controls from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

- Financial Reporting Execution: Lead the end-to-end preparation, drafting, and timely filing of all SEC documents (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and DEF14A). Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and US GAAP, managing disclosure checklists and supporting schedules.
- Clinical &
- R&D; Accrual Management:

Own the month-end and quarter-end clinical accrual process. Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Contract Research Organizations (CROs), and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) to estimate, track, and record preclinical/clinical trial expenses and milestone achievements accurately under US GAAP.
- Section 16 Compliance &
- Officer Filings: Manage the Section 16 compliance program, executing the timely preparation and filing of Forms 3, 4, and 5 for officers and directors. Partner closely with the Legal department to monitor trade activity and 10b5-1 plans.
- Technical Accounting Research: Act as the internal subject matter expert on complex accounting issues. Research, evaluate, and implement new accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842), and draft comprehensive technical memos on complex transactions, including R&D; collaborations, clinical trials, and licensing agreements.
- SOX Implementation &
- Compliance: Help design, implement, and operate the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)



compliance framework and Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR). Maintain control documentation and coordinate testing as the company scales.
- Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary operational contact for external auditors. Manage the PBC (Provided by Client) list, facilitate quarterly reviews and annual audits, and proactively resolve technical accounting matters.
- Equity Administration: Oversee the equity administration platform (e.g., Carta, Shareworks). Manage stock-based compensation accounting (ASC 718), including complex modeling, journal entries, and related financial statement disclosures.
- Systems &
- Automation: Drive the implementation and optimization of enterprise-grade reporting tools (e.g., Workiva or DFIN).

Optimize

NetSuite and the broader financial tech stack to increase automation and reduce the close/reporting cycle.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the broader finance team, Legal, and R&D; operations to ensure accounting treatments align with corporate milestones and business contracts.

Required Skills and Background

- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
- Certification: Active CPA license or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, featuring a foundational background in Big Four public accounting combined with experience in a public (or public-ready) company.
- Industry Expertise: Strong preference for experience in biotechnology or life sciences, particularly in fast-paced environments navigating the transition from late-stage private to public (IPO preparation experience is a major plus).
- Technical Mastery: Strong, hands-on knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX 404 requirements.
- Systems Fluency: Deep familiarity with NetSuite and advanced external reporting platforms (Workiva/DFIN) is highly preferred.
- Communication Skills: Proven ability to synthesize complex accounting and disclosure concepts into clear verbal and written summaries for finance leadership.
