E-Commerce Merchandiser

Department: E-Commerce / Merchandising

Reports to: Digital Retail Storefront Merchandising Manager

About the opportunity

At Spoke, we believe the right people make all the difference. We partner with growing US companies to build embedded integral teams, and we're looking for an E-Commerce Merchandiser to join a well-established US-based e-commerce retailer in the home furnishings space.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves the details: clean product data, accurate pricing, and a catalog that's always ready to sell. You'll work directly with the Merchandising Manager and vendor partners and become the go-to person for keeping thousands of SKUs current and competitive. The role is built to grow. As you learn the brands and the business, you'll take on ownership of your own brand portfolio, assortment decisions, and merchandising strategy.

If you're organized, data-minded, and ready to grow your career in e-commerce, we'd love to meet you.

Position Summary The E-Commerce Merchandiser is responsible for the day-to-day merchandising and catalog operations. This role ensures products, pricing, promotions, product data, imagery, and vendor information remain accurate, current, competitive, and ready to sell. The Merchandiser serves as a primary point of contact for routine vendor and catalog-related needs and executes the operational work required to launch and maintain products throughout their lifecycle.

The role works closely with the Digital Retail Storefront Merchandising Manager, who provides merchandising strategy, prioritization, assortment direction, vendor strategy, and final decision-making on significant pricing, promotional, assortment, and vendor matters.

As the Merchandiser develops greater product, vendor, and business knowledge, the role is expected to expand into increased ownership of assigned brands, assortment decisions, new-product sourcing, performance analysis, and merchandising strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Catalog & Product Management

- Manage the end-to-end setup and launch of approved new products and collections.
- Process ongoing catalog updates including pricing, product data, specifications, attributes, discontinued products, availability information, and other vendor-provided changes.
- Add and maintain product imagery, including newly released lifestyle, application, and product images for existing products.
- Review product data for completeness and accuracy before products are launched or updated.
- Resolve catalog issues identified internally, including requests submitted by Customer Service, Operations, Marketing, and other teams.
- Maintain product, collection, category, tagging, and other merchandising data within the company's catalog systems.
- Identify missing, conflicting, or inaccurate vendor data and work directly with vendors to obtain corrections.
- Support ongoing catalog cleanup, rationalization, and SKU lifecycle management.

Pricing, Promotions & MAP

- Create, configure, QA, launch,

and maintain vendor and sitewide promotions according to the promotional calendar.
- Ensure promotional pricing, effective dates, product eligibility, and supporting merchandising information are accurate.
- Process vendor pricing and MAP updates and confirm changes are reflected accurately within the company's systems.
- Monitor and investigate MAP violations and other pricing discrepancies.
- Review PO pricing discrepancies and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve routine issues.
- Track vendor promotional support, rebates, cost discounts, and other approved promotional terms.
- Escalate pricing exceptions, margin concerns, or material vendor issues to the Digital Retail Storefront Merchandising Manager.

Vendor & Brand Coordination

- Serve as a day-to-day contact for vendors regarding product data, pricing, promotions, imagery, product launches, discontinued products, and other routine merchandising needs.
- Proactively follow up with vendors for missing information or assets needed to keep their assortment current and sellable.
- Participate in vendor meetings and maintain appropriate follow-up documentation and action items.
- Field initial outreach and conversations with prospective brands, collect relevant product, pricing, margin, operational, and assortment information, and bring qualified opportunities forward for review.
- Support onboarding of approved new vendors and coordinate the information required to launch their products.

New Product & Assortment Support

- Review new-product releases from existing vendors and identify products appropriate for the company's assortment.
- Evaluate new products using available sales data, existing assortment, category performance, competitive positioning, and vendor recommendations.
- Identify assortment gaps, duplication, outdated products, and opportunities to improve the catalog.
- Support product tiering and assortment-prioritization initiatives.
- Bring recommendations to the Digital Retail Storefront Merchandising Manager for significant assortment additions, removals, or strategic changes.
- As experience grows, assume greater ownership of assortment strategy and performance for an assigned portfolio of brands.

Merchandising Operations & Reporting

- Maintain accurate tracking of product launches, pricing changes, promotions, vendor requests, and catalog projects.
- Monitor merchandising workflows and proactively identify overdue, missing, or incomplete work.
- Use sales, margin, product, and customer data to help prioritize catalog and merchandising activity.
- Identify recurring catalog or merchandising challenges and recommend process, tool, or automation improvements.

- Document repeatable merchandising workflows and maintain supporting procedures.
- Partner with Technology, Marketing, Operations, and other teams when merchandising changes require cross-functional support.

Success Metrics

Success in this role may be measured through:

- Accuracy and timeliness of product launches and catalog updates
- Reduction in new-product and catalog-maintenance backlog
- Promotional setup accuracy and on-time execution
- Pricing and MAP accuracy
- Turnaround time on internal merchandising/catalog requests
- Product-data and imagery completeness
- Resolution time for vendor and PO pricing discrepancies
- New-product launch throughput
- Accuracy and organization of merchandising documentation and tracking
- Ability to independently manage routine merchandising responsibilities with decreasing manager involvement

As the role matures, success measures may expand to include brand-level net revenue, margin, assortment productivity, new-product performance, and vendor performance.

Qualifications

- Experience in e-commerce merchandising, catalog management, retail merchandising, buying, product operations, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately manage a large volume of SKUs, data, pricing, and deadlines.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, pivot tables, filtering, and basic data analysis and manipulation.
- Comfortable working within e-commerce, PIM, catalog-management, or product-information systems; Shopify experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous vendor and catalog requests.
- Comfortable communicating directly with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to identify when an issue can be resolved independently and when it should be escalated.
- Analytical mindset and willingness to use sales and product data to inform decisions.
- Experience with lighting, home furnishings, or another high-SKU-count e-commerce business is a plus.

Role Development

This position is intended to grow beyond transactional catalog execution as the Merchandiser develops experience and the team's processes become more efficient.

Initially, the role will focus heavily on executing and independently managing recurring merchandising operations: product launches, promotions, pricing, catalog updates, vendor requests, imagery, MAP, and data maintenance.

With demonstrated proficiency, responsibilities can expand into ownership of a defined portfolio of brands, including assortment management, new-product sourcing, vendor performance discussions, SKU rationalization, sales planning, and identification of growth opportunities.

Ultimately, the goal is for the Merchandiser to own increasingly complex merchandising decisions while the Digital Retail Storefront Merchandising Manager focuses on broader storefront strategy, merchandising strategy, performance optimization, process improvement, and growth initiatives.
