The Andean Countries Hub, based in Bogotá, Colombia, focuses on technical cooperation initiatives in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, implementing diverse programmes for sustainable urbanization and territorial governance.Job purpose: This role serves to provide specialized technical assistance to the UN-Habitat Andean Countries Hub's programme portfolio.
The consultant will support the formulation, review, and implementation of projects, methodologies, and planning instruments.
Key contributions include offering strategic advice on territorial planning, land management, urban governance, and sustainable urban development, aligning with UN-Habitat's priorities and the specific institutional contexts of the Andean Region.
The position aims to enhance the quality and impact of urban development initiatives across the region, ensuring alignment with general agendas like the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.Responsibilities: The role involves providing comprehensive technical and strategic support for urban and territorial planning initiatives.
Key responsibilities include validating technical reports, methodologies, and planning instruments to ensure quality and coherence.
The specialist will offer high-level advisory services on sustainable urban development, territorial planning, and urban governance, contributing to the development of new programmes and project proposals.




This includes identifying innovation opportunities and promoting integrated approaches across various urban development sectors.
The position also requires providing technical oversight for project implementation, reviewing deliverables, and facilitating coordination among multidisciplinary teams.
Furthermore, the role emphasizes knowledge management by documenting, systematizing, and disseminating best practices and lessons learned within the Andean Countries Hub and its partners.Education: An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Architecture, Geography, Public Policy, or related fields is required.
A first-level degree with additional relevant experience may be accepted.
Knowledge of English and Spanish is mandatory.Work experience: A minimum of four years of professional experience in urban and territorial planning, land management, urban governance, or sustainable urban development is required.
Demonstrated experience in formulating and implementing planning instruments, providing technical assistance to governments, and knowledge of planning systems in the Andean Region are essential.
