Role Overview

We are seeking a Criminal Appeals Legal Assistant to support a criminal appeals law practice by helping manage case workflows, preparing legal documentation, and ensuring important deadlines and filings are handled accurately. This role is adecuado for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive in keeping cases moving forward.

The successful candidate will work closely with legal staff, communicate with clients and their families, and play a key role in maintaining smooth day-to-day operations. Schedule:

Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM [EST][EDT] (United States of America)

Your Responsibilities Will Include but Are Not Limited To:

- Maintaining accurate records and case documentation
- Tracking case progress and helping ensure deadlines are met
- Assisting the Office Manager and Paralegal with daily legal operations
- Helping monitor active cases and following up on pending items
- Organizing legal files and correspondence
- Coordinating with internal team members to support ongoing legal matters
- Preparing summaries and status reports for cases and clients




- Communicating with inmates' family members regarding case updates and information
- Filing final documents and representation agreements through court systems
- Producing legal documents using established templates

What We’re Looking For:

- 1-2 years of experience working as a Legal Assistant or within a law firm environment
- Strong experience filing legal documents through court systems
- Experience preparing legal documents and correspondence
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and manage competing tasks effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Professional and client-focused service approach
- Experience tracking cases and following up on outstanding matters
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Strong time management skills
- Experience with Clio is preferred
- Clear, professional, and confident speaking voice
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, courts, and internal team members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Reliable computer setup (laptop/PC, headset, stable internet min. 10 Mbps download / 5 Mbps upload)
- Quiet, distraction-free remote work environment
