We are looking for a Lead UI Technical Artist to define the materials, motion language, and technical UI systems that unify and scale high-quality game interfaces across platforms. You will build templates, tools, and polished real-time effects in Unreal Engine while mentoring UI artists and designers.

Responsibilities

- Define UI tech art systems, templates, thematics, and principles for a forward-looking game UI
- Craft highly polished and performant UI tech art solutions using materials, UMG, animation, FX, lighting, Blueprints, and camera tools in UE4/5
- Build consistent visual patterns for motion, FX, UI transitions, scale, and proportion
- Plan how UI tech art adapts across platforms by balancing fidelity, performance, and readability
- Own tooling and UI tech art asset management to keep the team scalable and efficient
- Create animated transitions and camera moves using Sequencer and related Unreal toolsets
- Develop material functions and shader systems that standardize UI look and performance
- Design diegetic and spatial UI moments where 3D meets UI through cameras, framing, and post-processing
- Optimize textures, materials, and effects through profiling and performance budgets
- Partner with UX and visual design to add hover states, micro-interactions, and motion polish
- Mentor UI artists and visual designers through reviews, templates, and hands-on support

Requirements

- 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist, UI Tech Artist, or VFX Artist on games
- Lead-level mentoring experience guiding UI artists and visual designers
- Cross-platform planning experience balancing fidelity and performance for UI tech art
- Strong Unreal Engine 5 skills with Material Editor workflows and real-time optimization
- Advanced Sequencer skills for animated transitions and cinematic camera moves




- Expert material functions knowledge including shader logic and reusable material systems
- Advanced UV math skills for procedural/technical material setups
- Strong Niagara VFX skills for performant real-time UI effects
- Solid real-time lighting skills and post-process techniques for mood and readability
- Strong motion design skills for timing, easing, and micro-interactions in UI
- Strong collaboration skills to elevate established UX/UI designs with technical polish
- Comfort with ambiguity in exploratory iteration to find the right feel for a moment
- Upper-Intermediate English (B2) proficiency for daily collaboration and documentation

Nice to have

- Experience building reusable or modular VFX and material systems across large UI surfaces
- Background in cinematics, trailer work, or environmental mood and lighting design
- Familiarity with UMG logic and how UI behavior interacts with materials and VFX systems
- Experience applying AI assistants to speed up iteration, documentation, or tooling workflows
- Broad gaming knowledge of UI conventions and player experience expectations
