Compliance Manager - Americas

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Regional Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organization's operations in Region Americas comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and internal policy standards. The role involves developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and monitoring business practices to identify potential violations. The officer will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure compliance with various requirements and to mitigate risks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance Program & Governance
- Design, implement, and continuously improve compliance, governance, and risk management programs across the region, including Joint Ventures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments at Regional, Area, and Country level; track corrective actions to closure.
- Develop and deliver compliance training and awareness programs.
- Act as a trusted advisor to regional and local business leaders on compliance risk and practical, business-oriented solutions.
- Proactively identify areas of high fraud risk, internal control gaps, and business efficiency improvement opportunities across the region.
- Monitor ongoing compliance within RAM to ensure the company, business, and employees adhere to internal and external regulatory requirements and Omya policies and procedures.
- Report deviations and build a knowledge base to support the continuous development and improvement of the compliance program.
Investigations
- Independently lead internal investigations into fraud, misconduct, and non-compliance across business functions,
managing the full lifecycle from planning and evidence gathering through interviews, findings, and remediation.
- Oversee the whistleblowing hotline and other reporting channels, ensuring safe and confidential escalation for employees.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Group/Regional Compliance, Legal, Regional/Group Management, and Business Process Owners on cross-functional compliance initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional [CCEP], Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager [CRCM], or equivalent) is preferred.
5+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles, with a focus on regional or multinational organizations.
Ideal candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal business settings.
Strong knowledge of regional and industry-specific regulatory requirements (e.g., anti-corruption, data privacy, environmental regulations). Experience in developing and managing compliance programs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks and recommend proactive solutions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to work in cross-functional and multicultural teams. High ethical standards and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
