Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Senior US Tax Reviewer & California Specialist based in Colombia to join our growing U.S. tax practice. In this technical mid-level role, you will take ownership of high-level tax reviews, diagnose return errors, and ensure accurate state and federal filings for business entities and individual clients—with a primary focus on California state tax compliance.

Senior US Tax – California (100% Remote - Colombia)

Core Responsibilities
- Technical Tax Review: Perform end-to-end review and final sign-offs on individual returns (1040) and business entities (1120, 1120S, 1065) along with state filings.
- California Tax Compliance: Leverage deep, hands‑on knowledge of California state tax rules, CA‑specific schedules, credits, and CA/Federal non‑conformity adjustments.
- Lacerte Error Diagnosis: Work within Lacerte at a review level to resolve complex diagnostic warnings, manage overrides, and finalize returns cleanly.
- Multi‑State Operations: Review multi-state filings, ensuring proper handling of state apportionment,



nexus considerations, and local tax requirements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Translate technical tax findings into plain English for U.S. clients and provide clear feedback to tax preparers.
- Process Execution: Manage personal return queues and task timelines in practice management software (e.g., Canopy) during tax deadlines.

Candidate Qualifications
- Location: Must be residing and eligible to work remotely from Colombia.
- English Proficiency: C1 Advanced or C2 Fluent English (written and spoken).
- California Tax Mastery (Required): Direct experience preparing and reviewing California state tax returns and understanding CA‑specific adjustments.
- Tax Review Background: Proven track record reviewing 1040, 1120S, 1120, and 1065 returns with strong accounting fundamentals.
