Project Accountant
Role Summary The Project Accountant role provides financial support and advisory to the Project Manager. This is a role that reports to a financial function, typically to a Financial Controller, and is typically budgeted in the overhead costs of a project. This role is assigned to multiple projects.
Responsibilities
Set up project in financial systems including project funding, revenue recognition, bill plans, contract overrides and billing/revenue controls.
Provide project pricing support (bill rates, contract overhead allowance, etc.).
Support/review project setup and change orders in financial system (WBS, budgets, margin expectations, and contingency/reserves).
Provide contractual and client compliance support including maintaining certificates of insurance, subcontractor/DBE reporting, rate/per diem caps, and identifying unallowable costs.
Ensure project financials are accurately reported in line with the Project’s commercial authorization.
Support financial performance of the project through monitoring project costs and recognized revenue (including calculating labour breakage/enhancements, overruns, missing bill/revenue rates, etc.).
Support project team in monthly reviews from a financial perspective, including estimated gains/losses.
Support DSO and collection efforts through monitoring unbilled costs, WIP, and AR in accordance to the terms and conditions of its contract, as approved by the project manager.
Be responsible for reconciliation of project financials at closeout.
Perform weekly reconciliation of labour hours, project charges, and financial transactions between BST (Colombia) and Horizon (Canada/US) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely correction of variances.
Support and monitor BST-Horizon project integration, including project setup validation, mapping of project structures, charge codes, and ongoing data integrity between systems.
