Platform Engineer, Database SME | SQL Server + DevOps

Are you a DBA who gets more excited about a CI/CD pipeline than manually creating indexes? Or are you a Platform/SRE Engineer who actually enjoys tackling complex database challenges? This role is for you! ?

An international tech company is looking for someone to help build their Internal Developer Platform—creating the tools and services that empower dev teams to ship faster and better. Here, database changes are treated strictly as code.

We don't expect you to know everything. We are looking for candidates from either of these backgrounds:

? Path A (Modern DBA): Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, already using (or eager to use) Git, CI/CD, and scripting.

? Path B (Platform / SRE / DevOps): Strong background in CI/CD, Linux, and AWS, with a genuine interest in database management.

What you’ll do:





✅ Version-control database changes in Git and promote them via automated pipelines through to production

✅ Maintain and optimize SQL Server in production (2016 edition)

✅ Collaborate with development teams through an Internal Developer Portal (Backstage)

✅ Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and handle real-time incident response

What you bring:

✔️ Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (Required; older versions are fine)

✔️ Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)

✔️ Solid troubleshooting skills under pressure

✔️ Conversational/Advanced English skills (B2+/C1)

Bonus points for:

⭐ Active or past Microsoft SQL Server certifications (MCSA / MCSE)

⭐ Experience with other database engines

⭐ Hands-on experience with AWS, Linux, or Backstage
