Job DescriptionAECOM Enterprise Capabilities is currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer - Ground Engineering to join our busy and expanding experienced team. The team provides assessment, concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of Projects, either as standalone commissions or as part of multidisciplinary major projects. It can be a great opportunity for a mid-level profile that wants to boost his/her professional technical career on the ground engineering.The responsibilities of this role include:Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer in diverse geotechnical projectsGathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures in geotechnical engineering with emphasis on soil and rock dataPerformance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position in relation to geotechnical projectsProvides specialized technical input to studies and designs for staff in geotechnical engineeringPrepare and manage technical specification sections related to designs, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards and regulationsWorks on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests for geotechnical projectsIndependently perform all the tasks necessary to complete design elements for geotechnical engineering worksProposes approach to solving new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments in relation to geotechnical engineering projectsProvides guidance to entry level engineers in geotechnical engineering with emphasis on soil and rock mechanicsDevelops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by othersWorks as part of a ground and tunnelling engineering team with other engineers at the same functional level that can be from different EC offices (Poland, Spain, India,



etc.)Works within interdisciplinary teams in infrastructure projects designParticipates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverablesFollow the AECOM’s Technical Quality Review procedureIdentifies discrepancies in results in calculations and reports for geotechnical projectsPerforms quality control review of reports, design calculations and drawings for geotechnical projectsPerforms work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision with emphasis on geotechnical projectsProvides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirementsQualificationsMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering o Engineering Geology from a recognized UniversityMaster´s degree, with emphasis in geotechnical engineering, from a recognized UniversityProven track record of working on ground engineering designs (+6 years) for Transportation, Water and/or Energy ProjectsExperience in the application of international regulations and standards with emphasis on geotechnical engineeringProficiency in geotechnical design software such as Roscsience, Geo Studio.Proficiency in numerical analysis using FEM software such as PLAXIS 2D and 3D; RS2 and RS3Proficiency in use of CAD software such as Civil 3D, Auto CADExperience in geotechnical design for slope stability, retaining structures, foundations and soil improvementProven commitment with Quality Control Policy and Quality Management SystemFluent in English (oral and written)Preferred QualificationsExperience in the use of structural engineering software SAP 2000, SAFEExperience working on international projects will be considered favorablyUS and/or Australia Professional Engineer license will be considered favorablyBackground in underground works associated with water and electrical projects would be considered as positiveExperience working with Common Data Environment platforms (e.G., BIM 360, ACC)Knowledge of software for generating geotechnical models such as Leapfrog, and for processing geotechnical data as OpenGround and GintAdditional InformationRelocation assistance is not available for this position.Sponsorship for Colombia work authorization is not available for this position,
