Senior Accountant – Remote (Colombia)

DPV Transportation is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. This is a fully remote position based in Colombia, supporting our U.S. operations and working closely with the Controller and U.S.-based teams.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in DPV’s monthly accounting cycle, including revenue, payroll accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support. The idóneo candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently while meeting strict deadlines.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, with availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours
Language: Professional English, written and spoken

Key Responsibilities

Revenue & Billing

- Record monthly revenue in NetSuite using LimoAnywhere trip and billing data.
- Reconcile revenue totals by client, service line, contract, and vehicle/bus.
- Investigate discrepancies between operational data, invoices, and the general ledger.
- Support accounts receivable by maintaining accurate customer balances and applying cash receipts.
- Assist with automation and AI initiatives to improve month-end efficiency.

Payroll Accounting

- Review payroll registers and prepare payroll journal entries and accruals.
- Allocate labor costs by department, contract, employee, and account.
- Reconcile payroll liabilities and identify unusual changes in hours, overtime, or headcount.
- Record weekly payroll data in NetSuite from Paycom.
- Verify that contracts, locations, and employee roles are properly assigned and allocated.
- Support automation and AI initiatives to improve payroll and month-end processes.

Month-End Close

- Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, amortization, and capitalization.
- Create and maintain fixed assets based on capitalization requirements.
- Adjust inventory as directed by the Controller.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, A/R, A/P, and fixed asset accounts.
- Maintain fleet loan and lease schedules and reconcile them to lender statements.
- Complete assigned close responsibilities according to the monthly close calendar.
- Maintain organized supporting documentation for all reconciliations.

Financial Reporting, Audit & Controls

- Prepare schedules for monthly management reporting and variance analysis.




- Prepare weekly P&L; reports by location and assist with consolidation.
- Review financial results for accuracy and identify trends or unusual activity.
- Prepare year-end and tax support for the external CPA firm.
- Respond to audit and accounting information requests.
- Prepare the annual 1099 report in Avalara by January 31.
- Follow, document, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive accounting processes using AI and other technology.

Systems & Technology

The Senior Accountant will work with:

- NetSuite – ERP, general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Excel – Advanced formulas, lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations, and financial analysis
- LimoAnywhere – Reservations, trip, and billing data
- Bill.com – Accounts payable and approvals
- Payhawk – Corporate cards and expenses
- Avalara – 1099 reporting
- Paycom – Payroll data
- Microsoft 365 and Teams – Daily communication and file management

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Contaduría Pública) or Finance.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- At least 2 years of experience independently handling month-end close responsibilities for a U.S.-based company.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including accruals, revenue recognition, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and deferred items.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite or another mid-market ERP system.
- Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and structured financial workbooks.
- Professional-level English, both written and spoken.
- Proven ability to meet month-end close deadlines.
- Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate supporting documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in transportation, logistics, fleet management, or another asset-intensive service business.
- Experience with payroll accounting for a large hourly workforce.
- Experience with labor allocation, overtime, and multi-location payroll.
- Experience with debt, loan,



and lease accounting.
- Experience with Bill.com, corporate card platforms, or AP/AR automation tools.
- Professional Accountant certification, Tarjeta Profesional de Contador Público, CPA progress, or equivalent certification.

Remote Work Requirements

This is a fully remote position based in Colombia.

The successful candidate must have:

- Reliable high-speed internet.
- A private, professional workspace suitable for handling confidential financial information.
- Availability to work and communicate during U.S. Eastern Time business hours, particularly during month-end close.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with U.S.-based teams.

First 90 Days

First 30 Days:

- Learn DPV’s chart of accounts, accounting procedures, close calendar, and systems.
- Prepare revenue and payroll entries under review.

Days 31–60:

- Take ownership of revenue and payroll entries for a full month-end close.
- Complete assigned account reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.

Days 61–90:

- Independently complete assigned close responsibilities accurately and on schedule.
- Require minimal corrections or follow-up.
- Recommend and document at least one process improvement.
