Location: Remote
Job Type: Full-Time
Contract: Contractor
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Web Analytics & Tracking Specialist to own how marketing data gets captured, from the first ad click to the final form submission. You'll implement and maintain tracking across multiple client websites, connect them to the major ad platforms, and be the person who finds out why the numbers don't match. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys technical troubleshooting, works carefully, and wants to shape how a growing analytics team builds its tracking workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain pixels, tags, and scripts in Google Tag Manager using native templates and Custom HTML
- Build and maintain data layers with the web team, and manage GTM containers, triggers, and variables across a multi-client portfolio
- Implement server-side tagging to improve measurement accuracy and data durability
- Set up browser pixels and Conversions API (CAPI) for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Snapchat, including custom events such as leads and applications
- Configure GA4 events and key events, ensuring data integrity from ad click through form submission and CRM entry
- Audit and debug broken tags, dropped events, and discrepancies between ad platforms, GA4, and CRM
- Verify events in platform Events Managers and GA4 DebugView before campaigns go live
- Manage cookie consent banners and Consent Mode in line with GDPR and CCPA
- Maintain tagging plans, naming conventions, and QA checklists, and explain technical setups clearly to non-technical teams
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on tracking or web analytics experience in a marketing or agency environment
- Intermediate Google Tag Manager skills: containers, triggers, variables, data layers, and server-side tagging
- Practical experience with pixel and CAPI setup for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Hands-on GA4 experience: event configuration, key events, and DebugView
- HTML, CSS selectors, and basic JavaScript for troubleshooting and custom scripts
- Comfortable with GTM Preview mode and browser developer tools (inspect element, network tab)
- Understanding of consent management platforms and privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA)
- Understanding of paid media KPIs and how tracking decisions affect them
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
Nice to Have
- Experience in education or nonprofit marketing
- Experience using AI/LLM tools to automate tag audits, validate data layers, or write tracking documentation
- Exposure to conversion modeling in privacy-first environments
