Colombia

Founded in 2004, Redux provides Managed Cloud Services and Managed Teams. Our globally distributed organization brings together experienced DevOps specialists, software engineers, and systems architects across North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. Our people-first, founder-led approach is built around adaptability, close partnership, and white-glove client service.

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a distributed engineering team while remaining actively involved in architecture, coding, and code review. You will bring strong technical judgment, clear recommendations, and the ability to turn ambiguous product needs into secure, scalable, production-ready solutions.

This role partners closely with an engaged founder, Product leadership, engineers, customers, and external partners. Success requires balancing delivery priorities, technical quality, operational reliability, and team performance without becoming a decision bottleneck.

What You’ll Do

- Lead, coach, and hold accountable a distributed team of engineers and contractors.
- Remain hands-on with production code and pull request reviews, with a meaningful portion of the week spent directly in the codebase.
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality web applications and RESTful services using Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, and related technologies.
- Own and guide architecture decisions for scalable, secure, cloud-based production systems.
- Provide clear technical recommendations, explain trade-offs, and respectfully challenge priorities when needed.
- Translate ambiguous business and product requests into sequenced, releasable technical plans.
- Drive complex initiatives from discovery through production, actively managing dependencies, delivery risk, and stakeholder communication.
- Partner with Product to negotiate scope, improve decisions with evidence, and align technical solutions with business outcomes.
- Establish an AI-first engineering workflow that includes clear requirements, specifications, automated testing, security controls, code review, and quality guardrails.
- Own engineering quality across CI/CD, observability, incident response, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding,

performance management, improvement plans, and difficult personnel decisions when required.
- Work directly with customers, suppliers, contractors, staffing partners, and technology vendors as needed.
- Improve live systems incrementally, balancing technical debt, operational risk, delivery speed, and long-term maintainability.

What We’re Looking For

- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful technical leadership and direct people management.
- Recent hands-on experience writing and reviewing production code in Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL or a comparable relational database.
- Experience directly managing a distributed engineering team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and difficult people decisions.
- Strong architectural judgment, including the ability to explain viable alternatives, real constraints, and technical trade-offs.
- Proven experience delivering large or complex features from ambiguous requirements through production release.
- A structured troubleshooting approach based on evidence, hypotheses, testing, root-cause analysis, and permanent remediation.
- Practical experience using AI coding tools or agents within a disciplined production engineering process.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, backup, and recovery.
- Advanced proficiency with REST APIs, SQL, relational data modelling, scalable systems, security, and production operations.
- Clear, concise, and structured English communication with engineers, executives, customers, and external partners.
- The confidence to make recommendations and disagree constructively, followed by strong commitment to aligned decisions.
- A collaborative,

accountable leadership style and a genuine interest in building production-ready software rather than prototypes.

Preferred Experience

- Managing contractors, staffing partners, SaaS vendors, or external development teams.
- Production data pipelines, analytics platforms, data-quality monitoring, and cost management.
- Security or compliance programmes such as SOC 2, including control implementation, audit evidence, and remediation.
- Payments, procurement, accounting integrations, inventory, healthcare, or supplier integrations.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

What Success Looks Like

- The team receives clear direction, timely feedback, and consistent accountability.
- Important technical decisions are made with explicit trade-offs and without unnecessary escalation.
- Complex work is released in safe, valuable increments with risks communicated early.
- Production quality improves through disciplined engineering, observability, incident learning, and AI-assisted workflows with human oversight.
- The role remains genuinely hands-on while creating enough leverage for the broader engineering team.

Working Style This is a high-ownership role for someone who is comfortable operating in a globally distributed, founder-led environment. The successful candidate combines technical depth with calm, direct communication, thoughtful people leadership, and strong follow-through.

What We Offer

- 100% Remote position with versátil collaboration across time zones.
- Full-time opportunity with USD compensation.
- Work with a highly skilled, globally distributed engineering team.

A Note from Our Founder If the magic stopped at 200 people, we’d stop there. Redux isn’t about growth for the sake of it. It’s about protecting what makes us great—our people. We operate with a dual mandate of care: delivering white-glove service to our clients and building a workplace where our team feels valued and supported. We hire not just for skill, but for ownership and the ability to collaborate. If you take pride in doing things right, even when no one is watching, you might find a good fit here.
