Position Summary & Role Overview The Data Management Lead serves as the senior technical authority and strategic champion for data integrity across multiple cross-functional client delivery teams. Operating as an escalation anchor and practice leader, this role bridges our data operations team, onboarding teams, Technology & Data leadership, and client-facing strategy and creative units.

The Data Management Lead is responsible for standardizing data management frameworks, mentoring embedded Data Managers, establishing rigorous data quality baselines, and steering technical data strategy.

Core Responsibilities

- Strategic Governance & Documentation: Oversee the architectural standards for client data guidebooks (wikis) and line-by-line data dictionaries; standardize documentation templates, data taxonomy, and audit frameworks across client delivery pods.
- Business-to-Technical Translation: Lead the translation of complex, multi-tiered business logic and omnichannel campaign requirements into robust technical specifications and data instructions for strategists and core data engineering teams.
- Framework Leadership & Quality Control (QC): Define, implement, and audit quality control workflows for datasets delivered by Heller Consulting, mail-entry lettershop outputs, and downstream marketing execution platforms.
- Campaign & Strategy Enablement: Act as senior counsel to strategists during complex grid designs, advanced audience segmentation, select generation, and strategic campaign handoffs.
- Escalation & Incident Management: Serve as the primary senior escalation point for critical data discrepancies, pipeline blockers, or schema deviations—collaborating directly with Data Onboarding Leads, Delivery Project Managers, and executive technical leadership within the CTO organization.
- Security, Compliance & Standards Enforcement: Champion and enforce strict RKD data governance protocols, PII handling safeguards, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR/CCPA, SOC 2) across all active engagements.




- Team Mentorship & Operational Excellence: Guide, coach, and mentor embedded Data Managers, driving consistency in execution, continuous process improvement, and onboarding efficiency.

Required Qualifications

- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in technical data management, data analysis, or technical delivery leadership, working extensively with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.
- Language Proficiency: C1+ English level (advanced/fluent) with exceptional written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to author executive-level technical documentation and lead cross-departmental client meetings.
- Proven Data Lifecycle Expertise: Deep practical knowledge of enterprise ETL/ELT lifecycles, cloud data warehousing architectures, and automated data quality assurance methodologies.
- Cloud & Platform Adaptability: Strong command of enterprise cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, or BigQuery environments) with the agility to master proprietary internal tools and client ecosystems rapidly.
- High-Stakes Accountability: Demonstrated track record of managing production-bound, mission-critical datasets where accuracy directly impacts client revenue and marketing operations.

Preferred Experience

- Background: Proven experience as a Senior Technical Project Manager, Lead Data Analyst, Technical Account Manager, or Client-Facing Data Solution Architect.
- Enterprise CRM & Donor Systems: Hands-on experience with enterprise CRM platforms (Salesforce / Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot) and constituent/donor management ecosystems.
- Architectural Awareness: Familiarity with modern data lakehouse patterns and cloud integration pipelines (AWS Glue, dbt, Airflow) to effectively interface with Core Data Engineering teams (note: this role remains consultative/governance-focused rather than hands-on ETL pipeline construction).
- Leadership & Influence: Experience guiding junior/mid-level data professionals, conducting root-cause post-mortems, and driving consensus across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
