The Grants Accounting Specialist, supports financial stewardship across Latin America by managing grant accounting activities and accounts payable operations. The position ensures donor compliance, accurate financial records, timely vendor payments, effective financial reporting, strong internal controls, and audit readiness while partnering closely with program teams, country offices, and finance leadership across the region.

Roles and Responsabilities

- Evaluate grant budgets, expenditures, and financial reports to ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, and financial regulations.
- Provide financial guidance to program teams, country offices, and finance leadership on grant management, cost allocation methodologies, expense coding, and donor compliance requirements.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities within grant portfolios and recommend corrective actions or strategic adjustments to optimize funding utilization.
- Monitor grant transactions, cost allocations, and expense coding to ensure accurate accounting treatment and financial transparency.
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate and timely grant financial reports in accordance with donor and organizational requirements.
- Manage accounts payable processes, including vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and payment requests, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Perform reconciliations of grant-related accounts, vendor accounts, and balance sheet accounts to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities through journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and financial reconciliations.
- Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready supporting documentation for grants, accounting transactions, and financial reporting.
- Prepare schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation for donor audits, statutory audits, and internal reviews.
- Promote compliance with financial policies,



procedures, and internal controls across the Latin America region (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Bolivia y Perú).
- Recommend and support process improvements, automation initiatives, and internal control enhancements to strengthen financial operations.
- Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of grant management and general accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding accounts payable requirements, financial processes, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective grant stewardship, and strong donor accountability throughout the region (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Bolivia y Perú).

Education and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Professional accounting certification (CPA or equivalent local designation) is highly desirable.
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience in grant accounting, donor compliance and accounts payable, financial reporting, financial analysis, account reconciliations, internal controls.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Workday.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
- This position requires availability for travel throughout the Latin America region.
