Billing Specialist - Drayage & Intermodal Transportation

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Billing Specialist to join our growing finance and logistics team. This role is idóneo for someone with experience in billing, accounting support, or logistics administration within the drayage, intermodal, or transportation industry.

The Billing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, reviewing shipping and billing documentation, applying accessorial charges, and supporting accounts receivable activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your knowledge of port operations, intermodal transportation, and logistics finance.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and verify transportation documents including Rate Confirmations, Delivery Orders, Bills of Lading (BOLs), Gate Tickets, and Proofs of Delivery (PODs).
- Ensure all billable services and accessorial charges are accurately captured and invoiced.
- Apply drayage-related charges such as:
- Detention
- Demurrage
- Chassis Usage / Chassis Split
- Pre-Pulls
- Yard Storage
- Yard Moves
- Port-Related Fees
- Coordinate with Dispatch, Operations, Customer Service, and Port Teams to ensure shipments are completed and ready for billing.
- Create, process, and maintain accurate customer invoices.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate billing discrepancies.
- Respond to customer and carrier inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable functions,



including payment posting and account balance updates.
- Maintain accurate records within Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and accounting platforms.
- Generate billing reports, aging reports, and outstanding invoice summaries.
- Ensure compliance with company billing procedures and documentation standards.
- Perform additional administrative and finance-related tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

- 1 to 2 years of experience in Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounting Support, or a related role within drayage, trucking, logistics, freight forwarding, or intermodal transportation.
- Basic understanding of drayage operations and common port accessorial charges.
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics documentation.
- Basic knowledge of billing and accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple invoices in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the transportation and logistics industry.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience billing drayage or port-related shipments.
- Knowledge of containerized freight and intermodal transportation processes.
- Experience using accounting software and logistics platforms.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
