Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner

Job Summary
The Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control strategies to reduce healthcare-associated infections and promote a safe environment for patients, healthcare professionals, and visitors.

The role will ensure compliance with applicable national and international infection prevention standards while supporting infection surveillance, outbreak investigation, staff education, quality improvement, and accreditation activities.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct ongoing infection surveillance and monitor healthcare-associated infection trends.
Investigate suspected and confirmed healthcare-associated infections and support appropriate corrective actions.
Develop, review, and implement infection prevention and control policies, procedures, and protocols.




Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), isolation precautions, and other infection control practices.
Conduct regular infection prevention and control audits across clinical and support departments.
Identify infection control risks and recommend appropriate preventive and corrective measures.
Provide infection prevention education, orientation, and ongoing training to clinical and non-clinical staff.
Analyze infection surveillance data and identify trends, patterns, and areas requiring improvement.
Prepare infection prevention reports, dashboards, and presentations for nursing and quality leadership.
Participate in infection prevention committees, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs.
Support accreditation activities and ensure infection prevention requirements are incorporated into organizational practices.
