Billing Specialist Jr

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Billing Specialist to join our finance and logistics team. The adecuado candidate will have experience supporting billing processes within the drayage or intermodal transportation industry and will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate invoicing. This role requires a basic understanding of common drayage accessorial charges such as detention, demurrage, chassis usage, pre-pulls, yard storage, and port-related fees. The position offers an excellent opportunity to grow within the logistics and transportation finance field while gaining deeper exposure to port and intermodal operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and verify supporting documents such as rate confirmations, delivery orders, bills of lading, gate tickets, and PODs to ensure all billable charges are properly captured.
- Identify and apply drayage-related accessorial charges including detention, demurrage, chassis split, storage, yard moves, and pre-pulls when applicable.
- Coordinate closely with dispatch, operations, and port teams to confirm shipment completion and billing readiness.
- Maintain and update billing records, invoices, and customer statements in the accounting and TMS systems.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies or missing documentation in a timely manner.




- Respond to customer and carrier inquiries regarding invoices, charges, payments, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with accounts receivable processes, including posting payments and updating account balances.
- Generate reports related to billing activity and outstanding invoices for internal review.
- Ensure accurate entry of financial and shipment data into company systems.
- Maintain organized records of invoices, documentation, and communications related to billing activities.
- Perform additional administrative or finance-related tasks as required by the company.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
- 6 months -2 years of experience in billing, accounting, or a related role within , drayage, or intermodal transportation.
- Basic understanding of drayage operations and common port accessorial charges (detention, demurrage, chassis usage, storage, etc.).
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics documentation.
- Basic knowledge of billing and accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple invoices in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving processes and operational needs.
