We are looking for a results-driven Collections Specialist to join our Accounts Receivable team. You will own a portfolio of customer accounts, drive timely payment of open balances, and resolve the issues that hold payments back.
What You Will Do
Collections
- Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts and follow up proactively on upcoming and past-due balances by phone and email.
- Prioritize collection efforts based on aging, balance size, and risk.
- Negotiate payment commitments and payment plans, and follow through until balances are cleared.
- Escalate high-risk or non-responsive accounts with clear documentation and a recommended course of action.
- Track credit limits against open balances and flag accounts that need a credit hold or review.
- Verify late fees and interest charges and ensure they are invoiced and recognized correctly.
- Keep detailed, up-to-date notes on every account, including contacts, commitments, and next steps.
- Investigate disputes, short payments, and deductions by gathering information from customers, billing, operations, and commercial teams.




- Coordinate credits, adjustments, or rebilling to resolve valid discrepancies quickly.
- Push back professionally on invalid disputes and support the position with documentation.

Payment Application and Reconciliation
- Apply customer payments (wires, ACH, checks) accurately and resolve unapplied or misapplied cash.
- Support daily lockbox and subledger reconciliations.
- Review credit balances, refunds, and adjustments.

Reporting
- Maintain the AR aging and report weekly on collection progress, commitments, and at-risk accounts.
- Track key metrics such as DSO, collection rate, and past-due reduction.
- Provide AR data for month-end close and support internal and external audits.

Perform other duties related to or complementary to the position, as assigned by the employer or immediate supervisor.
