About the Role

Have you ever wondered what happens behind the cameras capturing vehicles on roads, parking facilities, and critical infrastructure? At Blackbird Labs powered by Riwi, we are partnering with a leading innovator in Automated License Plate Recognition technology to build next-generation computer vision solutions at scale.

We are looking for a Senior Applied ML Engineer with deep expertise in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and Production AI Systems. You will work on advanced solutions involving object detection, OCR, image retrieval, visual embeddings, and multimodal AI, taking models from research to real-world deployment.

What You'll Do
• Design, train, optimize, and deploy computer vision models.
• Improve object detection, image classification, OCR, and image similarity systems.
• Research and evaluate modern architectures including CNNs, Transformers, CLIP, and Vision-Language Models (VLMs).
• Optimize inference performance, latency, model size, and scalability.




• Convert and deploy models using ONNX and production inference frameworks.
• Partner with software engineers to integrate ML solutions into high-volume production environments.

What We're Looking For
• 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or Applied AI.
• Strong hands-on experience with PyTorch, OpenCV, and ONNX.
• Expertise in object detection, OCR, image processing, and deep learning architectures.
• Experience with CNNs, Transformers, CLIP-style models, and Vision-Language Models.
• Strong understanding of model optimization, deployment, and production ML pipelines.
• Ability to evaluate and improve model performance through experimentation and analysis.

Nice to Have
• Experience with OpenVINO, vector databases, and image retrieval systems.
• Knowledge of YOLO, multimodal AI, and foundation models.
• Experience building scalable computer vision services and APIs.
