Drayage Specialist Jr

Key Responsibilities

We seek a dependable, detail-oriented dispatcher to coordinate daily trucking operations, driver communication, equipment readiness, maintenance tracking, billing, and customer updates for a port drayage and container transportation company serving the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. This is a long-term role with training on internal procedures and customer accounts.

Remote | Full-time, long-term | Schedule: Pacific Time operating hours

Daily Dispatch & Load Coordination:

- Coordinate daily truck assignments, pickups, deliveries, and container movements.
- Use the ITS Load Board through Truckstop to review and coordinate available loads.
- Confirm load details and availability, terminal appointments, and customer instructions before dispatching.
- Assign drivers based on availability, location, route efficiency, equipment readiness, and available Hours of Service.
- As a standard, dispatch drivers one hour before terminal appointments, or two hours before when preliminary stops are required; adjust for traffic, congestion, distance, and operational conditions.




- Track load progress, troubleshoot delays, and keep customers informed.

Port & Terminal Operations:

- Coordinate moves through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
- Use eModal and terminal systems for container availability, appointments, and returns.
- Manage empty pickups, loaded returns, chassis coordination, street turns, earliest receiving dates, and cargo cutoffs.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in drayage, freight forwarding, or transportation logistics preferred.
- Knowledge of drayage operations, container tracking, and port procedures (Port of Los Angeles, CA).
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and logistics software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
