Reporting to Engineering Manager EC2, you will lead the day-to-day running and continuous improvement of an engineering team within Grid Automation, owning capability, standards and delivery within your domain. This is first and foremost a leadership role: you will spend more of your time on people, coordination and decision-making than on hands-on technical work, while drawing on your own senior technical background to support,



challenge and develop the team.
Your day is built around the team rather than a single piece of technical work. You will allocate work, manage priorities and resolve conflicts, support engineers through technical and professional challenges, and make sure standards and ways of working stay consistent across the team. You will represent your domain in conversations with Customers, Project Managers and other discipline leads, and you will input to hiring, promotion and development decisions. You will stay close enough to the technical detail to ask the right questions and challenge the team's thinking, without needing to be the one solving every problem yourself.
