About Third Watch
Third Watch connects Latin America with frontier AI labs, for a better world. We help organizations across the region and leading AI teams build trusted, long-term collaborations. Our privacy-first approach (anonymization and strong safeguards) keeps information safe and aligned with local and international regulations.

The role
We're looking for our first engineering leader: someone who loves building teams as much as building systems. You'll own our technical direction and architecture, grow a small, high-trust team, and be the technical counterpart for the AI labs we work with. You'll still write code: this is a hands-on leadership role.

What you'll do
• Define and own the architecture of our platform, with privacy and security by design
• Hire, mentor and lead a small, senior engineering team
• Act as the technical counterpart to AI lab partners, translating needs into clear solutions
• Stay hands-on: review, prototype and ship code when it matters
• Set engineering practices: quality, documentation, reliability and security
• Partner with the founders on roadmap,

priorities and trade-offs

What you bring
• 8+ years in software engineering, including experience leading teams
• Track record of building engineering teams from an early stage
• Strong system design and backend/data architecture skills
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS)
• Comfort with ambiguity and fast-moving startup environments
• Clear, calm communication with technical and non-technical people
• Fluent English (Spanish or Portuguese is a plus)

Nice to have
• Experience working with AI/ML teams or research labs
• Background in privacy, compliance-heavy or regulated environments
• Previous startup or founding-team experience
• Network in the Latin American tech community

Why join
Shape the engineering culture from day one, work remotely across the Americas with a small founding team, and help build a bridge between Latin America and the teams building the future of
