We're a vertically integrated multifamily real estate firm. We invest in, develop, build, renovate, and manage apartment communities across high-barrier U.S. markets, from California and Seattle to Denver, Dallas, Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., and Hawaii.
We're in the middle of a file migration project, and our in-house teams don't have the time to finish it. We're looking for two File Migration Specialists on a 2–3 month fixed-term basis to help us get it done.
You’ll move, organize, and verify files across our file systems and SharePoint. You don't need to program or administer SharePoint — you need to be comfortable using it every day, careful with detail, and able to work through a high volume of tasks on your own.
What you’ll do
- Move files and folders from existing file shares and drives into SharePoint, following our migration plan and folder structure.
- Review and clean up content before it moves — flag duplicates, outdated files, and items that need a decision from their owner on our team.
- Apply the agreed naming conventions, folder structure, and metadata in SharePoint document libraries.
- Check each batch after migration: file counts match, files open correctly, and links and permissions work as expected.
- Log progress, issues, and exceptions in the project tracker so we always know where things stand.
- Escalate access problems, broken files, or unclear ownership to our project lead quickly.
- Work with our team members to confirm where their files should live and answer basic questions about finding content in SharePoint.
What you bring
- 1+ years working with file systems — Windows file shares, network drives, or cloud storage such as OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
- Hands-on experience as a SharePoint user: uploading, moving, and organizing files; working with document libraries, folders, versions, and basic sharing settings.
- Strong organization and attention to detail when handling large volumes of files.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel for tracking, Teams, Outlook).
- Clear written and spoken English for status updates and questions to our team.
- Ability to work independently, follow a defined process, and keep an accurate log of your work.
- Availability for a 3 month fixed-term engagement, starting soon.
Nice to have
- Previous experience on a file or document migration project.
- Familiarity with SharePoint migration tools such as the SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) or ShareGate, as a user.
- Basic understanding of file permissions and folder-level access.
- Experience with records retention or document management practices.
- Full-time position
- Work from Home
- Prepaid Medicine: Your health is our priority!
- Life Insurance: Peace of mind for you and your loved ones!
