The Manager, Global Issues Management and Media Relations, will be part of a global team driving high impact communications to engage and align employees around the world, support activities that protect and enhance brand and business reputation, and drive awareness of our brands and mission among consumers. The role will support global issues response strategy, crisis communications and global media relations for key business initiatives. This person will also be a significant contributor to the development of the Consumer Health global external digital footprint and online presence.

This candidate has a passion for fast-paced issues management and media relations, understand and effectively uses different types of media to shape the external environment or respond to issues, and fosters collaboration across the world and throughout the matrix. This role will require interaction with members of the media.


Contributes to the development of strategic communications plans and messaging to enhance and defend the reputation of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health within today’s 24/7 news cycle. Partners with Director, Issues Management and business leaders on strategic communication activations and media engagement to manage brand and business issues, including litigation matters; does so independently, with limited or no agency support. Maintains alignment across functions and across regions, ensuring collaboration and awareness by all parties of anticipated and ongoing issues and media relations activations. Develop strong partnerships and support Global, Regional, Business and J&J; Enterprise leaders in the execution of communications and media strategies Supports Director, Issues Management and business leaders on media interaction, reactive positions and media relations. Strategically aligns press releases, news coverage, and announcements within landscape of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health, and the J&J; Enterprise; identifies opportunities and understands external factors to shape news coverage of the company. Contribute to the development of the Consumer Health global digital footprint and website by serving as project manager and content curator for the sector’s online presence.



Minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 6 years of experience in communication at a corporate environment or public relations agency. Must demonstrate a global mindset with knowledge, appreciation, and awareness of the J&J; business (corporate, consumer, medical device and pharmaceutical), operating flexibly from a global, regional and local level. Experience in media relations and working with news organizations. Must be a strong media statement writer and critical thinker. Professional maturity and ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and work independently with minimal supervision and/or as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to develop compelling stories, with superior written, oral and visual communication abilities. Proven leadership and management of complex products; ability to thrive in a matrix organization to drive projects to conclusion. Ability to stay aligned with overall strategic direction while applying diligence and attention to detail in execution and reliably meeting deadlines. Exceptional Project Management skills. High accountability for work quality and solutions-oriented mindset.


A focus on communication within the consumer health, personal care or pharmaceutical sector. Experience with issues management, crisis communications and/or litigation communications. Deep understanding of digital and social platforms.
