Colombia

At MAS Integral Consulting, we are a premium digital engineering partner trusted by innovative startups and Fortune 100 companies, delivering high-impact solutions through agile delivery, deep technical expertise, and a strong people-first culture across the Americas.

We build long-term partnerships, not just software. MAS means “more” in Spanish, and that mindset drives our commitment to greater opportunity, inclusion, and impact.

Founded by a Latina engineer from Medellín and headquartered in Tampa, Florida, MAS Global Consulting is a 100% Hispanic and woman-owned company, recognized as a Great Place to Work and one of the Fastest-Growing Companies in the US.

Who You Are

You are a highly senior Python Engineer who understands how Python works at a low level: packaging, build systems, dependency resolution, lock files, and how behavior changes between runtime versions. You’ve owned large-scale upgrade and modernization efforts before, and you know this work is closer to surgery than to feature development: changing one package means understanding the full dependency graph around it.

You take end-to-end ownership of the packages and services assigned to you. You plan the upgrade path, unblock it, validate it and see it through to a safe rollout, with minimal direction. Much of the migration is generated by AI automation, so you bring the judgment to review what the AI produces, spot where it went wrong, and steer it toward the right solution. You write clear pull requests, give and take code review well, and keep stakeholders informed of progress and blockers in a distributed team.

You’ll join a platform engineering team leading a migration from Python 3.7 / 3.9 to Python 3.12 across a large codebase of shared packages and the services that depend on them.

What You’ll Do

- Own the migration of assigned packages and services end to end: assess the dependency graph, define the upgrade path, implement it, validate it and drive it to a safe rollout.
- Prepare Python 3.12 migration and runtime-upgrade pull requests, following and helping evolve the team’s migration plan.
- Resolve complex dependency and build compatibility issues: update version constraints, manage lock files and transitive dependencies, and replace deprecated or unmaintained libraries.
- Review and refine AI-generated migration changes (the team uses Claude Code heavily), deciding when to rely on automation and when to apply your own engineering judgment.
- Work on the build scripts and CI toolchain that validate upgrades, and improve migration scripts, build configuration, linting and static checks to make repeated upgrade work safer and easier to review.
- Validate upgrades with unit, integration and runtime compatibility tests, investigate failures and document evidence for each change.
- Partner with package and service owners on code review, track progress and blockers, and proactively

What You Bring

- 7+ years of professional Python experience,

including maintaining production services or shared libraries in a large codebase.
- Deep, hands-on experience with modern Python packaging and dependency tooling, especially uv and/or Poetry, as well as pip, pip-tools, lock files, version constraints, virtual environments and package compatibility.
- Low-level Python and build system experience: how packages are built, resolved and installed, and how to debug failures at that level.
- Proven ownership of large-scale upgrades: Python runtime upgrades (for example 2.7 -> 3) or dependency upgrades across many packages, or maintaining a core library used by multiple teams and services.
- Experience diagnosing behavior changes across Python versions and managing transitive dependencies.
- Hands-on CI toolchain experience: building a CI pipeline from scratch or working inside an existing one, especially on build scripts. Experience with linting, formatting and static analysis in CI/CD.
- Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex, and the judgment to critically review AI-generated code.
- Strong testing and debugging skills, including telling migration regressions apart from unrelated failures.
- A track record of clear pull requests and constructive code reviews.
- Advanced English (B2/C1) is mandatory, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

- Buildkite.
- Experience with large-scale refactors, staged runtime rollouts, or dependency upgrades coordinated across many packages and services.
- Familiarity with native Python extensions, compiled dependencies, or compatibility issues across Linux and Apple Silicon environments.
- Experience building reusable migration scri
