About General Green Growth Institute (GGGI)

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international inter-governmental organization established to support and promote strong, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. As a specialized agency dedicated to advancing green growth policies and investments, GGGI works across multiple sectors to integrate environmental sustainability with economic development objectives. GGGI operates with a mission centered on mobilizing finance and expertise to accelerate the transition toward sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient economies. The organization combines policy advisory services with direct project implementation, focusing on areas including renewable energy, green infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, and forest conservation. With member countries and operational presence across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, GGGI facilitates knowledge exchange and capacity building among governments, financial institutions, and development partners. The organization has positioned itself as a leader in forest finance and sustainable value chain development, particularly in response to global commitments outlined in frameworks such as the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and various United Nations climate and biodiversity conventions. GGGI’s work on forest conservation and financing is supported by major international partners including the European Union, the World Bank, and bilateral development agencies.

The organization’s approach combines technical expertise in financial engineering with deep understanding of local contexts to design instruments that mobilize both public and private capital toward sustainable forest management and conservation.

About this Role

The Senior Officer, Credit & Risk Instruments position is part of GGGI’s Financing for Forests (F4F) program, which operates across multiple countries including Lao PDR, Mongolia, Colombia, and Guyana, with planned expansion to additional nations. This role represents a critical leadership position within the sustainable finance team, responsible for designing and implementing innovative financing mechanisms that mobilize commercial and concessional capital for forest sector investment. The position will provide global technical leadership in supporting the effective delivery of the F4F program through the design and structuring of credit lines, guarantee mechanisms, blended finance instruments, and other risk-sharing tools. The Credit and Risk Instruments Sr. Officer will work at the intersection of financial sector development and forest conservation, engaging with central banks, financial regulators, commercial banks, and development finance institutions to create enabling environments for responsible forest-sector lending. The role involves leading banking-sector readiness assessments, designing dedicated forest credit lines, structuring credit-enhancement mechanisms, and delivering capacity-building programs to financial institutions.

The successful candidate will translate complex risk analysis into practical, implementable financial instruments while maintaining close coordination with country teams, regulators, and financial-sector partners across multiple jurisdictions.
