At Cafeto Software, we're looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join an enterprise pricing software team. You'll own the stability and performance of the SQL databases behind pricing calculations, customer-specific logic, and reporting, and help lead a migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.

What you'll do

• Monitor, tune, and stabilize SQL Server databases for a cloud single-tenant application (blocking, deadlocks, resource contention)

• Analyze execution plans, indexing, and statistics to speed up critical queries and batch workloads

• Review and improve custom SQL, stored procedures, functions, and views

• Plan and execute the SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration: schema conversion, T-SQL rewrites, data validation

• Set up monitoring, alerting, backup, and maintenance practices, and lead root-cause analysis

• Partner with application engineers on schema changes and efficient data-access patterns

What you bring





• 6+ years in database engineering or DBA roles with production SQL Server

• Expert T-SQL: query tuning, execution plans, indexing, concurrency

• Hands-on PostgreSQL experience (a SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration is a big plus)

• Ability to own deliverables independently and work with distributed US-based teams

• Strong English communication skills

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar) is strongly preferred
