Senior Full Stack Engineer (Team Lead) – TypeScript/Next.js

- Engagement: Exclusive independent contractor, full-time (40 hours per week)
- Location: Remote, Colombia or Mexico
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM ET (Bogotá: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM in winter, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM during U.S. daylight saving time; Mexico City: one hour earlier than Bogotá)

About Kavren Technologies Kavren Technologies builds and operates the software behind U.S. companies in telehealth, outpatient care, healthcare staffing and real estate technology.

The role

We are hiring a senior engineer to build production features across our platforms and to lead how engineering work is planned, reviewed and reported. You write code every day, set the standards the team follows and give leadership a clear, accurate picture of progress every week.

What you will do

- Build and maintain full-stack features in TypeScript, React and Next.js
- Design PostgreSQL schemas and server-side APIs (Supabase and Prisma)
- Integrate Stripe payments and third-party APIs
- Deploy and monitor applications on Vercel, with Sentry for error tracking
- Lead sprint planning and keep the Jira backlog accurate and prioritized
- Set and enforce code review, pull request and testing standards
- Deliver a weekly engineering report to leadership

How we work
- Virtual office: our engineering team works together on Microsoft Teams with cameras on during working hours, the same way we would in a shared office. The one-hour lunch break is off camera
- Jira: updated daily for every task
- Monday: weekly plan by 9:30 AM ET
- Wednesday: progress update by 3:00 PM ET

- Teams calls: answered or returned within 10 minutes during business hours
- Feedback: leadership gives direct feedback; you act on it and confirm what changed

You own this cadence: you publish the plan, run the check-ins and keep leadership informed. We are looking for someone who believes clear structure makes good teams faster.

Standards

- AI-assisted coding: approved tools only, no patient data or secrets in prompts; you review and own every line you commit
- Security: HIPAA training, NDA and multi-factor authentication on all accounts
- Equipment: your own computer with full-disk encryption and automatic screen lock, and reliable internet with a backup connection

Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development
- 3+ years of full-stack work with TypeScript, React and Next.js
- Production PostgreSQL experience, including schema design and migrations
- Proven experience leading process on a development team: sprint planning, code review standards and Jira
- Experience working with U.S. companies
- Professional English and Spanish, written and spoken

Preferred




- Supabase, Prisma, Stripe, Vercel, and Playwright or Vitest
- Healthcare or HIPAA-regulated software

Hiring process

4. 90-minute live technical session on Microsoft Teams: walk us through your own work, make changes to a sample codebase while sharing your screen, and review a sample pull request. No take-home assignment.
5. Reference checks with two former engineering managers

6. Final conversation with leadership
