? We’re Hiring: Lead Energy Engineer — Mechanical
? What You’ll Do:
- Lead the energy-engineering group (energy studies, mechanical, controls & sensors) as its technical authority.
- Set standards, templates and QA/QC, and give technical sign-off for HVAC, steam, hot water, heat pumps, plumbing and EMS/BMS.
- Lead energy studies end to end (Elevate Core and Pro, NYSERDA FlexTech, Heat Recovery, Clean Green Schools): scoping, site surveys, energy modeling and final reports.
- Own the NYSERDA process, including incentives, applications, submittals and follow-up with NYSERDA project managers.
- Manage engineering subcontractors’ scope, quality and schedule.
- Own the engineering side of proposals: scope, quantities, cost estimates and savings calculations.
- Define and review the savings-calculation method across every line the discipline touches.
- Lead, train and develop the engineers on the team.
- Keep project timelines on track and report pipeline, status and blockers weekly.
? What We’re Looking For:
✔️ 5+ years in energy engineering, HVAC/electrification design,
energy studies or NYSERDA programs
✔️ Experience leading energy studies end to end and reviewing other engineers’ work
✔️ Strong knowledge of HVAC, steam and hot water systems, heat pumps and controls (EMS/BMS)
✔️ Energy modeling (eQuest, EnergyPlus, TRACE or similar) and ASHRAE Level I/II/III audits
✔️ Financial modeling (savings, payback, ROI, NPV) and advanced Excel
✔️ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. CEM, BEMP or PE strongly preferred
✔️ Heat recovery or K-12 school energy studies a plus
✔️ English C1 preferred (B2+ minimum)
