Build customer relationships. Create better marketing. Lead projects powered by AI.
About Docking Drawer
Docking Drawer is a California-based small business that designs and makes hidden electrical solutions. We bring big business experience to the way we operate, without the parts of big and small businesses that can get in the way. Think of us as a professionally run business with the feel of a great midsize company.
We also manage our own marketing, ecommerce, and customer experience, so our team gets to see how the whole business works.
We have been a remote business from the start. Our team works across the United States, from California to the East Coast, including Boston, North Carolina, and Florida, as well as throughout the Philippines and in Colombia.
Working remotely does not mean working disconnected from one another. We spend a lot of time together, whether that is on a call or in person. Most of our team is in Medellín, and we would love for this teammate to be there too, so there are more opportunities to connect.
We move quickly, share ideas, and help one another. Our motto: have fun and get it done.
The role
We are looking for someone who brings together customer relationships, sales and marketing, and a curiosity for technology. You enjoy talking to people, learning what matters to them, and finding ways to help. You also like turning what you learn into projects that make the business better.
You will talk with customers by phone and other channels, helping them find the right solutions for their projects. We believe people do business with people. These are real conversations, not a race to cross names off a list. Listen, understand the project, and help get it right. The best part is when a customer remembers you and asks for you next time.
You do not need to arrive as a Docking Drawer expert.
Get to know the product
Understanding our products and the people who use them is a key part of this role. Our customers include architects, kitchen designers, electricians, retail companies, homeowners, sports teams, and more. Each conversation is different. You need to be comfortable adjusting how you communicate, thinking on your feet, and guiding the conversation with confidence.
Some conversations will be technical. You should be comfortable discussing amps, volts, and watts, as well as cabinetry, layouts, and dimensions. You will need to picture how an outlet fits in a drawer or cabinet and think through how a drawer or door moves. A customer might share a photo, a drawing, or measurements and ask whether a solution will work. You will learn to use our Spec Book, ask the right questions, and explain the next step clearly.
You do not need to be an electrician or know our products before you join. You do need to enjoy learning how things work and know when to bring in a teammate or qualified professional.
From customer conversations to better tools
When a customer asks for a resource that does not exist, you might work with the team to define it, help create it, and keep the project moving until it is ready for the next customer.
That is how this role connects customer experience, marketing, and education. You will share what you hear and help improve our content, processes, and technology. Our teams work closely across customer experience, marketing, ecommerce, and technology, so you will see how the business fits together.
Be bold with AI
Strong computer skills are essential. We use AI agents and automations to take repetitive work off our team's plate and make more room for conversations and ideas. We are doing more than polishing writing: we are building complex tools and workflows designed to be easy to understand and use.
You do not need to be an engineer. What matters is how you think: Can you identify a need, describe a better way to work, and help the team build it? When you learn something useful, you will add context to our knowledge base so our people and AI tools can use it. You do not have to build alone. AI supports our people and customer relationships; it does not replace them.
What you will do
We are a customer-focused company, and you are part of our first impression team. You will connect with and educate customers throughout their experience with us, wherever the conversation happens. Your goal is to make it easy for someone to get the help they need and make their day a little better along the way.
Connect with and educate customers
- Answer inbound calls and make outbound calls when a customer could use help.
- Learn about customers and their projects, explain our offering in clear language, and help them find the right next step.
- Build relationships with customers and trade professionals through phone, email, chat, social media, and other channels where they communicate with us.
- Use AI to help spot conversations that need a personal response, find useful information, and jump in ready to help.
- Follow through on questions and commitments, including bringing in teammates when more expertise is needed.
- Notice recurring questions and opportunities to help more people understand Docking Drawer.
Bring ideas to life
- Use customer insights to help improve marketing, educational resources, ecommerce, and follow-up processes.
- Help lead collaborative projects across customer experience, marketing, ecommerce, and technology. Define the outcome, organize the next steps, bring teammates together, and review what worked.
- Keep people informed, surface blockers early, and stay involved until the work is complete.
- Add useful customer insights to our shared context and knowledge, so our team and AI tools can use what we learn in future conversations.
- Use and improve the technology and AI tools that help our team serve customers. Identify needs, test improvements, and work with teammates to build a better way of doing something.
Who you are
First and foremost, you know how to connect with people. Your experience, instincts, or both have taught you how to start a conversation, keep it going, and show someone you care. Good conversations take curiosity, knowledge, and genuine attention.
- You have customer-facing experience and enjoy building relationships. You ask thoughtful questions, listen, and adapt how you communicate to the person and the situation.
- You are comfortable talking with people by phone, email, and social channels such as Instagram and Facebook. You want to learn our products and customers well enough to guide conversations with confidence.
- You are comfortable learning technical products and understand basic electrical terms such as amps, volts, and watts. You can think spatially, work with measurements and drawings, and explain what you learn in plain language.
- You have strong project management skills and enjoy working across teams to turn an idea into a finished result. You bring people together, organize the details, and follow through.
- You start your day with a plan: what you want to accomplish, how you will work with your teammates, and what needs to move forward. You can respond when something unexpected comes up, but you do not wait for the next task to find you.
- You have strong computer skills and are confident learning and using new systems. We use tools including Slack and Notion to communicate and organize our work. You are ready to be bold with AI, experiment with it, and help improve the tools and context behind your work. You do not need to be an engineer.
- You take initiative. When you see something that could be better, you want to help make it happen.
- You enjoy learning and can bring genuine enthusiasm to the people and projects you care about.
- You work well with a remote team, make time to connect, communicate clearly, and meet your commitments.
- You are based in Colombia. Medellín is preferred because it offers opportunities to connect with teammates in person.
Extra points
Experience in ecommerce or marketing is a plus, especially if you have worked with tools such as Klaviyo, ConvertFlow, project management platforms, or AI tools and workflows. We are interested in how you use those skills to solve problems, connect the pieces, and build something useful.
You care about helping people and getting things done. If you want a role focused primarily on operations or reporting behind the scenes, this probably is not it.
Your teammates will support you, but you will not find a large company's formal training program or someone telling you what to do next. You enjoy learning by doing, making a plan, asking for help, and keeping things moving.
Why Docking Drawer
You will be part of a professionally run California-based business where your conversations and ideas can lead to visible changes. You will learn our offering, work across customer experience and marketing, and help shape the tools our team uses.
This is a full-time, salaried role. Our team generally works and meets during the US business day, across Eastern and Pacific time zones. We move at a fast pace and care about work-life balance. You will plan your work, be available to collaborate with your teammates, and follow through on your commitments while making room for life outside of work.
People stay at Docking Drawer for a long time. You are looking to invest in your next opportunity, and we are looking to invest in you. We want to grow together, build something special, and share that excitement with our customers.
Want to be a top prospect for this role?
Show us how you think. A strong candidate is excited to talk with customers, brings marketing and project skills, and sees opportunities to use technology and AI to make the work better. You do not have to know our products yet. We are looking for curiosity, initiative, and someone who wants to learn and grow with us.
And because you made it all the way here, tell us your favorite dessert and why it is your favorite. We would love to hear the story behind it. Cookies count.
