Solutions by Hope connects independent professionals in Colombia with U.S. companies that need ongoing support. We work with a network of experienced contractors and match them to engagements that fit their skills.

Engagements are long-term and stable. You aren’t bidding for tasks on a marketplace or rotating between clients every few weeks — you work with one company, learn their business, and become someone they rely on.

We’re small and direct. You’ll always know what’s expected, and we pay in USD, on time.

English Requirement

English requirement — please read carefully

This engagement requires C1 (advanced) spoken English. You’ll be on live phone and video calls with U.S. clients, vendors, and customers regularly. You need to handle an unscripted conversation, understand American accents over a phone line, and be understood without the other person straining.

The first interview is conducted entirely in English. Please don’t apply if you aren’t comfortable with that.

Engagement details

- Independent contractor engagement. You invoice Solutions by Hope monthly based on hours worked and tasks completed
- USD paid per month. Rates depend on scope and experience (Generally $1500 - $2500 USD/Month per client)
- Typical workload: 25–40 hours per week, varying with the engagement and number of clients
- 100% remote, from anywhere in Colombia
- Work needs to overlap meaningfully with U.S. business hours across Eastern to Pacific time zones — how you arrange your day is up to you
- You use your own equipment and manage your own schedule. Based on position, you may be eligible for a rental laptop or partial reimbursement.
- You’re free to take on other clients
- Qualified clients that SBH accepts are requested as long-term engagements, not short-term gigs

About the work

You keep the books clean and then tell us what they mean. Half the work is accurate back-end bookkeeping. The other half — the part that makes this interesting — is looking at the numbers and pointing at what nobody has noticed: the vendor whose costs crept up, the job type that isn’t actually profitable, the recurring charge for something long since cancelled.

What the engagement covers

- Back-end bookkeeping — categorization, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close support
- Maintaining the general ledger and keeping records audit-ready
- Building recurring financial reports — P&L;, cash flow, job costing
- Breaking numbers down so non-finance people can act on them
- Identifying cost creep, waste, and margin leakage, and raising it proactively
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting
- Preparing documentation for the external accountant and tax preparation

What we’re looking for

- B2 or better spoken English — you'll present numbers to U.S. leadership on video
- 3+ years in bookkeeping or accounting; U.S. GAAP exposure preferred
- Degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent hands-on experience
- QuickBooks Online proficiency required
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets
- Genuinely accurate — this work has no tolerance for "close enough"
- Discreet with confidential financial information

Helpful, not required

- U.S. small business accounting experience
- Job costing in a project-based or service business
- Xero, Bill.com, or similar
