PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Senior HR Generalist, Employee Relations is a critical role responsible for leading and conducting complex workplace investigations across the US and Canada while ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws, company policies, and union agreements (where applicable).
This individual serves as a trusted advisor to leaders, driving fair, consistent, and legally sound outcomes in sensitive employee matters, while mitigating organizational risk and reinforcing a culture of respect, accountability, and integrity. This role works closely with managers, employees, and HR partners to foster a fair, respectful, and compliant workplace while supporting business objectives and positive employee experiences.
KEY RESPOSIBILITIES
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, including complaints, grievances, conflicts, misconduct concerns, and policy violations.
- Conduct thorough, objective, and timely workplace investigations; gather facts, interview relevant parties, assess documentation, and prepare findings and recommendations.
- Partner with HR, Legal, and business leadership to assess risk, ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, and support defensible decision-making.
- Develop, review, and recommend updates to employee relations policies, procedures, and practices to support consistency and legal compliance.
- Analyze employee relations trends, case data, exit feedback, and workplace issues to identify root causes and recommend proactive solutions.
- Analysis of exit interview data and highlights trends.
- Follow up and review background checks for pre-employment using Adjudication Matrix.
Qualifications
Experience 4+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner—with a focus on Employee Relations—or in multi-responsibility roles within a multinational environment or Shared Services Center. Experience in the USA and/or Canadian markets is essential due to the regulatory complexity and accuracy requirements of these regions.
Education
Professional in Business Administration, Psychology, Human Resources, or related fields.
Languages
Proficiency in English (level B2 or higher) IS REQUIRED to accurately interpret legal and contractual documents.
Proficiency in French IS PREFERRED for operations in Canada to accurately interpret legal and contractual documents.
