Description
Finance in Motion is seeking an experienced investment professional to join its Latin America Investment Management team. The role focuses on originating, structuring, executing, and monitoring corporate debt investments across the region, with a particular focus on agribusiness, sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, renewable energy, and energy transition sectors. The role combines business development, transaction execution, portfolio management, and active engagement with clients and stakeholders across Latin America.
The successful candidate will bring strong corporate finance, credit analysis, structuring, and negotiation capabilities, together with sound commercial judgment and a demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions from origination through execution and portfolio supervision.
Experience in restructurings, workouts, reschedulings, and special situations is highly valued.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and develop new investment opportunities across Latin America, leveraging existing networks and building relationships with corporates, sponsors, financial institutions, advisors, and other market participants.
- Structure, negotiate, and execute corporate debt transactions, including senior debt, subordinated debt, structured credit, sustainability-linked financing, and other bespoke financing solutions tailored to client needs.
- Lead financial analysis, due diligence, credit assessment, cash flow modeling, and transaction structuring, working closely with internal and external stakeholders throughout the investment process.
- Prepare investment memoranda, transaction proposals, and presentations for internal decision-making committees, articulating key risks, mitigants, and investment rationale.
- Take an active role in negotiating commercial terms, financing structures, covenant packages, collateral arrangements, and legal documentation with clients and counterparties.
- Monitor portfolio investments and proactively manage client relationships, identifying emerging risks and opportunities while supporting the long-term growth of portfolio companies.
- Support portfolio management activities, including amendments, waivers, refinancings, restructurings, reschedulings, and other special situations when required.
- Collaborate closely with legal, ESG, risk, compliance, treasury, and portfolio management teams throughout the full transaction lifecycle.
- Contribute to sector and market intelligence efforts, particularly across agribusiness, sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, renewable energy, and energy transition sectors.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the continued development of the regional investment platform and investment processes.
What we expect:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline. Master’s degree in finance or professional qualifications (e.g. CFA) is a plus.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in investment management, corporate banking, investment banking, private credit, structured finance, project finance, development finance,
or related fields.
- Proven experience originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing corporate debt transactions.
- Strong financial modeling, credit analysis, and corporate finance skills.
- Experience working with corporate borrowers across Latin America.
- Experience with restructurings, special situations, distressed credits, or portfolio remediation is a strong advantage.
- Sector experience in agribusiness, aquaculture, forestry, renewable energy, infrastructure, or related sectors is preferred.
- Experience working with DFIs, impact investors, commercial banks, investment banks, or private credit funds is desirable.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Portuguese is strongly preferred.
