Job purpose: The WFP Colombia office is seeking a VAM-SIG Associate (Vulnerability Analysis & Monitoring) to strengthen its capacity in vulnerability analysis and food security mapping.
This role will support the Research, Evaluations, Monitoring, and Reporting (RAM) Unit by developing and leading a data systems strategy focused on automating data collection and sharing.
The Associate will leverage visualization and geospatial technology to inform strategic and programmatic decision-making.
Key responsibilities include generating operational and static maps, maintaining a spatial data library, supporting the development of data collection tools, updating VAM data systems, creating dashboards and infographics, and providing training on GIS software and data collection platforms.
This position is crucial for enhancing evidence-based program design and management in response to complex challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, the Venezuelan migration crisis, and internal conflict escalation.
Responsibilities: The VAM-SIG Associate will be responsible for developing and leading a data systems strategy to automate data collection and sharing, with a focus on visualization and geospatial technology for decision-making.
This includes establishing standard operating procedures, guidelines, analytical tools,



and communication tools in compliance with corporate methodologies.
Key duties involve generating operational and static maps, dashboards, and web-GIS products using WFP operational data for internal and external users.
The role also requires maintaining a spatial data and metadata library within WFP's spatial data infrastructure.
Additionally, the Associate will support the technical and programmatic development of surveys using WFP's data collection platform to automate data acquisition and analysis.
They will maintain VAM data systems, enhance links with other units and platforms for database consistency, and develop user-driven dashboards for sharing key real-time internal data, including field office targeting data.
The position also entails developing infographic reports, performing regular information updates, and providing training on GIS software, WebGIS platforms, and data collection tools to both internal and external users.
The Associate will also perform any other necessary tasks to support project objectives.
Education: A secondary education cycle completion is required.
A professional degree in administrative areas, engineering, statistics, data analysis, or related fields is necessary.
Postgraduate studies in Geographic Information Systems, Data Science, or Computer Science are desirable.
Work experience: Requires a minimum of six years of progressively responsible work experience, including at least three years of relevant professional experience in the development and management of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
