Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to build and lead the market commercial insight engine, transforming complex commercial data into decision-ready insights, opportunities and forward-looking recommendations. The role enables leaders to understand what is happening, why it is happening, what actions should be taken and where value can be unlocked.
The role combines strong commercial understanding with data mining, root-cause analysis, advanced analytics, storytelling and automation. It evolves fragmented and manual analytical processes into scalable, governed and increasingly automated solutions, reducing dependency on manual Excel-based work and enabling faster, more reliable and more sophisticated decision making.
The role complements Performance & Execution Reporting: Reporting owns recurring performance visibility, PULSE reporting, scorecards and action tracking; Data & Insights provides the analytical depth behind those signals through diagnostic analysis, hypotheses, opportunity identification, modelling and decision support.
Functional & Leadership Responsibilities
-
Lead the market Commercial Data & Insights agenda and act as the analytical thought partner to Commercial Performance & Value Creation and the broader Commercial organization.
- Perform data mining and deep-dive analysis across customers, channels, distributors, outlets, brands, regions and SKUs to identify performance drivers, root causes, anomalies, patterns, risks and growth opportunities.
- Convert complex analysis into clear business narratives and recommendations using strong storytelling with data, moving from What happened? to Why? to So what? to Now what?
- Support PULSE and other performance routines with analytical depth, root-cause analysis, hypotheses, opportunity sizing and decision-ready insights, while Performance & Execution Reporting retains ownership of recurring reporting, scorecards, governance and action tracking.
- Build and maintain reusable analytical datasets, KPI logic and data models that improve consistency, speed and scalability of commercial analysis.
- Automate repetitive data preparation, consolidation, validation and analytical workflows using fit-for-purpose tools such as Python, SQL, Power Query / Power BI, APIs, Power Automate and approved AI capabilities.
- Progressively reduce dependency on manual Excel-based processes by replacing recurring, high-effort workflows with scalable, documented and governed solutions.
- Develop fit-for-purpose advanced analytics including forecasting, scenario modelling, segmentation, anomaly detection, predictive models and prioritization methodologies where they materially improve commercial decisions.
- Strengthen customer, channel, distributor and outlet intelligence, connecting sell-out, distribution, execution, service, RGM, financial and external market signals.
- Identify and escalate data-quality, availability and governance issues; partner with data owners and Digital / IT teams to resolve structural issues and improve reliability.
- Build commercial capability in analytical problem solving, data-led decision making and effective use of analytical tools.
- Challenge assumptions constructively and bring an independent, fact-based perspective to commercial questions.
Experience & Required Qualifications
-
Professional degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Data Science or related field.
- Strong experience in Business Intelligence, Commercial Analytics, Sales Analytics, Revenue / Commercial Planning, Data & Insights or related analytical roles.
- Demonstrated experience working with commercial data and translating analysis into business decisions and measurable actions.
- Advanced analytical problem solving and root-cause analysis, with the ability to structure ambiguous business questions into testable hypotheses.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to connect analytical findings with customer, channel, distributor, execution and value-creation realities.
- Executive communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex analytical findings for senior stakeholders.
- Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority and challenge assumptions constructively.
- High autonomy, curiosity, learning agility and orientation to impact and continuous improvement.
