We are seeking a UI-focused Unreal Engine Developer to implement and maintain player-facing runtime UI for a cross-platform live product. You will build scalable UI flows, integrate with gameplay and online data, and optimize performance across input methods.
Responsibilities
- Implement UI screens, flows, and reusable components in Unreal Engine such as menus, HUD overlays, modal flows, and lists/grids
- Own UI behavior end-to-end including navigation, focus management, input handling, state transitions, and error handling
- Integrate UI with asynchronous data sources such as client services/APIs, player data, and remote configuration
- Design caching strategies and resilient loading states to support unreliable networks and async responses
- Partner closely with UI design and UI art to deliver shippable, maintainable UI that matches specifications
- Debug and optimize UI performance and stability including frame time, hitching, memory use, and draw cost
- Establish and document UI best practices and implementation patterns for the team
- Support cross-platform usability across controller and keyboard-mouse input methods
- Contribute to team workflows through code reviews, ticket-based delivery, and version control practices
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience shipping UI in Unreal Engine using UMG (Widget Blueprints) and Blueprints
- 2+ years of experience implementing UI screens, flows, and reusable runtime components
- Strong collaboration skills with UI design and UI art to translate specs into maintainable implementations
- Solid UI architecture knowledge including separation of concerns, reusable components, and state management
- Strong cross-platform UI navigation knowledge including focus-driven UI, back behavior, and input routing
- Hands-on performance profiling skills using Unreal tooling such as Unreal Insights and in-engine debugging tools
- Professional team workflow experience with code reviews, ticket-based delivery, and version control systems
- Perforce version control experience (strongly preferred) or Git experience
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to usability and stability
- Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2)
Nice to have
- C++ in Unreal Engine for extending UI frameworks and improving performance-critical UI paths
- CommonUI/CommonInput framework familiarity
- Slate UI framework familiarity
- Live-service development experience including rapid iteration, hotfix mindset, and feature flags/remote config patterns
- Cross-discipline collaboration experience with backend/services teams
